Covid-- difference between shots 1 and 2?

I got Pfizer #1 this morning. #2 in 3 weeks.
I was surprised at how painless the shot was: much less than a flu shot (which itself is not bad). So far, no SE; my wife had hers a few days ago and she had a slightly sore arm the next day for less than 12 hours. So, I'm curious. I know shot #2 has some harsher SEs that last about 2 days. My question: Is shot #2 itself as painless going in as shot #1?

Mel, I found that #2 was easy and painless going in. Afterwards though I had a sore arm for a day or so and my wife had both a sore arm as well as fatigue. Many of our friends here in FL have now had both shots. No one has complained about the #2 injection itself but many have had fatigue and/or chills and/or flu like symptoms for a day or two.

The Missus and I both received Moderna. First shot was no problem. Second knocked her on her caboose for two days - - flu-like symptoms and 99.9 temp. I had a 99.1 that went away in about five hours.

Both shots 1 & 2 were not painful at the moment of injection. However, we both had soreness the next day.

i got shot #2 of pfizer about an hour ago. didn't feel a thing. i'll update later on SEs

The shot itself seems to depend more on the person giving as far as injection pain goes. The sore area at the injection site is no different than most vaccines and varies a little from person to person. My wife and I had both Pfizer shots and had the same mildly sore arm for a day or two. My wife had some fatigue and the blah's (her word) the day after the 2nd shot and took a long nap but that was it.

Well, I spoke a tad too soon. I am running a very slight fever of 99.5. For me, normal is about 98.4. However, it also is not unusual for me to run 99-99.4 in the afternoon, so I'm not even sure this is due to the vaccine. No big deal.

Big change from your thread of 2/26 when you were disgusted. How did you get an appointment? Congratulations. I got my first shot yesterday. Mild soreness at the injection point. I understand that the SEs from the second shot are worse.

Mel, same as others, more SE's with the second shot, which is par for the course. I had Moderna. Just as painless going in, but the second shot, resulted in my arm being much more sore the next day and for a couple of days after, aside from the low grade fever, and generally blech feeling. Didint last long. Good luck, let us know how you are doing tomorrow

I had Pfizer. First shot: didn't feel anything when it was administered, not even a pinprick. Sore arm later, and body aches/general crappiness as if a flu were coming on the next day. But that passed quickly and by day 3 I felt fine.

Second shot: This one I felt for some reason -- bee sting and the pressure of the goop being injected -- don't know why. It's exactly the same vaccine and dosage as the first. But afterward I felt fine, no side effects at all.

Mel, Avis and I have had both Pfizer shots... No signifucant side effects with either one except for the slightly sore arm the following day... All in all, a Seinfield for us... smile

my arm was more sore last night than after the first shot but this morning there is no soreness. i tossed and turned a bit last night but don't have a fever or muscle pain. i feel almost normal today. just a little blah

Phizer first sore arm injection site for a few hours second 17 days later...sore.arm few hours...but wait...there's more for 19.99....oops mixed synapse....woke op 12hours later with chills 99.9 temp(97.6)..malaise...lasted another 12 hours...all better...I still will be masking and social distancing...wife still waiting for the over 65...We both intend to mask in crowds for a long time....neither one of us have been sick for long time...and we both share the frustration of reality vs perfection...perfection is overated anyway...it stagnates...imperfection creates....go figger..." fools ask for reasons...wisemen yada yada yada.....

Moderna #1 - very sore arm
Moderna #2 - slightly sore arm, temp shot up to 101.0 about 18 hours after the shot but lasted only an hour.

The funny part is that she used a small needle. AND she and I talked about how small it was....AND we talked about how on TV it looked like they are using RailRoad Spikes as needles and how that might scare some people off.

i ended up feeling pretty badly yesterday like i had the flu. i took a nap in the afternoon and by the evening i was starting to feel better. today i feel normal or close to it.

The first Moderna injection was painless and very minimal sore at the injection site for a couple of days.
The second Moderna injection I really felt going in, yet the same reaction as the first injection.

Not sure how much of the tiredness was due to the vaccine and how much because of insufficieng sleep last night. Very well-run Duke revervation system and vaccination facility at one of their many health centers. We'll see what tomorrow brings.

I believe this probably accounts for why my first shot was moderately painful; much more so than a flu shot. I barely felt the 2nd shot. No SE's from either.

This is my third day after my 2nd Pfizer shot and still no adverse reactions other than insignificant soreness to pressure for a day or so at the injection site. This was quite different from my first of the two Shingrix shots, when I had a half day of fever and chills the day after.

The psychological boost from receiving the vaccine was significant for me. "Unfortunately" the cellist in my chamber music group is a youngster in her 50's, so we haven't started up again yet.

Wife and I have had both Moderna shots. We were concerned about 2nd since some people had a bigger side effects, but both were the same, just had the blahs for a day with no fever. So to paraphrase Herman's Hermits "second shot same as the first"

Received my 2nd Pfizer shot 2 days ago. My arm was not even sore that night. I was able to roll over and sleep on that side. I had a restless night but no other side effects. I get the "Lupron flu" after every shot and I had chills with Shingrix vaccine. So I was expecting the worse. Got the best. Hope I'm not writing too soon.
