Taxotere and Carboplatin Chemo Combo for Anaplastic Small Cell Metastasis

My husband has been diagnosed with a secondary Anaplastic small cell Metastasis. They recommended immediatly starting on a "Cocktail" of Taxatore and Carboplatin. He is continuing the Zytiga and monthly Degeralix shots. He has been in more pain and difficulty urinating and frequent. about every 30-45 min. The Metastasis has spread to his mediastinum, neck, abdomen, pelvis. Prostate cancer invading the bowel with extensive perirectal lymphadenopothy. There is also areas that show on the sclerotic joint and bone and a couple ribs. This Very aggressive according to the Oncologist. Has anyone on here used this combination of drugs with success and what to expect. Any experience with the Anaplastic secondary cancer? Ms.WorryWort, You had mentioned that your Dr. said something about this. Anyone that can shed some HOPE for this treatment and/or anything else they have used to STOP this Darn thing. We were told all this on Thursday of last week and he had his first round of treatment on Monday evening. Thank you for any response with experience with this.

So sorry to hear of your husband's diagnosis. I was diagnosed with G10 PCA back in November of 2019. I was treated with the usual therapies for regular PCa - radiation, Lupron, etc. and responded well to the treatments, going into remission in just 45 days or so. However, a relocation to another state and and a new Oncologist brought new scans which showed that I too had developed Small Cell Prostate Cancer. It appears that they may have caught mine earlier than usual by pure dumb luck as I had one large tumor (about 8 cm) just above my bladder and a couple of lymph nodes involved.

My MO put me into a clinical trial of Yervoy and Opdivo which totally failed for me allowing the tumor to continue to grow. I was then switched to chemo with carboplatin and etoposide. I have now had 4 rounds of chemo and the most recent scan shows both the tumor and the lymph nodes have shrunk considerably.

I have two threads on this forum about my experience with SCPC. The first is "A potential New Problem" and the second is "Small Cell Prostate Cancer - My Journey" The second one needs to be updated. I will try to do that this weekend - but perhaps there is something in those threads that might help.
