i would like to respectfully ask what new data do you have to support this claim? because my research and consultations from different doctors says otherwise.
Hi Sammas. Are you saying your sources say there is zero chance of a new primary tumor? My understanding is that the frequencies of, say, bladder or rectal cancer resulting from radiation of the prostate/pelvish as been decreasing, but is not zero. Whatever the incidence, the numbers probably go up if primary RT for PCa after is recurrence (BCR) is treated with a reirradiation.
BTW, I am seeing in the literature this more informal use of "secondary cancer" used for what are more formally new
primary tumors of a second organ. "Secondary" was reserved for mets to another organ of the same (original) cancer, as in cancer of the prostate with secondary tumors/cancer in the lungs. I also see "second primary cancer" in paper titles, just to keep things interesting
this last I think is used to prevent any ambiguity about
the term "secondary cancer"
