JNF, et. al:
Your comments leave me confused. As a retired Michigan educator, I opted for our health plan that I've had for probably 15 years. It is a Medicare Advantage Plan via BCBSM. It is a PPO (not an HMO). I have been to Mayo and Prostate Oncology Associates and other out-of-state doctors, including Cleveland Clinic and UCLA. Coverage has always been great. I had a severe spinal injury in 2017. I was hospitalized at Scripps for weeks, much of it in intensive care, and then spent 7 weeks in rehab in L.A. before being well enough to fly home. My bills: 1 million bucks. My share was under $500. One very helpful feature is the annual OOP max. I have an $800 deductible and $1700 OOP annual max. That is a savior when major expenses hit. Oh, and they covered past PSMA scans (when it was still considered experimental). My RP was $64K and my SRT was also $64K. Again, my cost for both combined was minuscule.
Folks, what am I missing?
Mel
