Best of luck. Only recommendation for immediate recovery is get up and walk. Doesn't have to be long walks, just frequent short walks so you don't get stuck to the couch. Even just getting up and walking around during each commercial is good or ya.

Gman, by now you're in the PACU, or even in a room. If you see this, don't try to be a tough guy and refuse pain meds. Let the nurses take care of you--you deserve it. In the morning, eat the breakfast they bring you, no matter what it is...and then be thankful when they come get you for your first shuffle around the floor--most likely with 2 or 3 helpers and your IV pole rolling along beside you.

Had a bit of a rough nite and still haven’t farted. Long story but I’ll be OK. They tried to get me up last night but I fainted. Ended up with half the coronary unit up here. Turns out I let myself get too dehydrated and was very weak from so long without food.

Feel better now but need to fart.

Doc said said lymph nodes looked great no apparent spread outside the prostate bed, and I’ve got my nerve bundles I’m pretty sure but did not ask that specifically. He said it could not have went any better.

In a few days, if the constipation and lack of gas lasts, try a tall glass of prune juice. I did on day 4 or 5 and it did the trick for me, rather quickly I might add.
In the meantime, do your best to walk a lot. Each day will see improvement in your mobility

The worst is over....now walk, pass gas, soft poop, rest, no heavy lifting, relax, and wait for the coming excellent numbers. Oh, as as you learned already....drink lots of water!

Thanks all for the well wishes. Got home yesterday after staying 2 nights due to a couple setbacks in recovery, but it's all good. Just got back from walking around the block with my old dog (around the block is enough for him as well). Had a good BM this morning and the pain in my abdomen and upper chest from the gas is just about gone, so I think I am doing well.

Got a good night sleep last night aided by the oxy (that's good stuff) but probably slept too long, I was in bed for about 12 hours total, but I was exhausted. I think I can return to a relatively normal schedule as far as work, I'm a computer guy that pretty much sits in my recliner all day and works from my laptop. Glad I am not a carpenter or a plumber or something that requires physical activity!

I am so relieved to be on the other side of this and I feel pretty darn good considering!

GeetarMan, by all means use the oxy if needed. But keep in mind that opioids can be incredibly constipating! I suggest a stool softener.

I'm familiar. Taking a stool softener and had a good BM this morning. All good! Probably don't need to take any more of them.

Not sure if I'm allowed to drink alcohol yet but a good Bloody Mary sounds tempting! There's nothing in my post-op instructions about alcohol.

GeetarMan, So happy to read you are doing well.
Just a word about laxatives that may not apply to you right now but I've had to use them for quite some time due to chronic opioid medication use. I've found that the "usual" dose is useless so I use a combo of 4 senna tablets and 3 bisacodyl work for me. After Greenlight laser surgery I added a stool softener and I'm having decent BM's
I was surprised you were dehydrated while in hospital since I'd assume you'd be hooked up to a saline solution (D5W or something like that) and your fluid intake would have been closely monitored.

I'm 3 weeks and 3 days past surgery and am doing well but it was a much less invasive procedure. Since I take blood thinners, that has slowed the healing but it's getting there.
