PSA how often for 62 yo man

Every year. Too many of us skipped years only to then find cancer that was advancing. PSA is a simple test to be done when he has the other blood tests including cholesterol, etc. Every year at his age in my opinion.

Girlie, you have gotten the answer from the others but I will emphasize it. A man your husband's age should be getting a PSA test EVERY YEAR...without question. There is a load of crap out there about, "doctor discussion with patient about the need for the test". Ignore that noise...as Djin said, the key to this cancer is to catch it early. Early it is usually very treatable and curable. Later on it's a tougher proposition.

I recall that you are in Canada and perhaps the standards where you live are not as I indicate. If so, ignore those standards and encourage hubby to get tested ASAP and yearly.

I should check what his last PSA result was. And when it was.

Ok - I will encourage him to get tested yearly.
Heck - I will make the appt and drag him to the Dr if I have to.. lol

He’s really really lax about lab work/going to the Dr…. Etc

Girlie, that's really good for a man his age. Yeah annual tests should be fine. Chances are he has nothing to worry about.

At PSA=0.36 and he's 62.
That's close to being right for his age.
Yearly tests should be fine.

I'd recommend yearly, as many other posters have. I had mine checked about every 5 years since I was 40. On my last annual check-up (a year ago), my primary doctor noticed an uptick, and referred me to a urologist, which began the path to diagnosis and a RALP. If I had skipped that checkup (as I almost did), I'd be dealing with a much more serious condition.

I am 75 now, should be getting one every year but I have noticed that some doctors won't give you one unless you ask for it.

I'm thinking that some of them (Most?) find it an unpleasant experience also.

The DRE is uncomfortable - like the Pap test is for women.
But necessary.

I didn’t feel a thing during the colonoscopy - but I was heavily drugged.
That reminds me - time for another one (colon cancer in my family - mother died at 55 yo)
