Gunner - great post! You’ve obviously been through a lot, yet you are upbeat about tomorrow. I was diagnosed in 2012…Gleason 9…started Lupron…then Zytiga….then other oral meds (didn’t help). Had docetaxel about a month ago and it worked well. Going to start Jevtana in a few days.

I’m 76…active, but all of this takes its toll. Let’s keep LIVING until we’re not. Everyone, stay strong!! AJ 123

Sadly, our comrade Gunner34 passed away in recent days ...

He was a loyal member here for years, an advocate for prostate cancer awareness & research, and a steadfast warrior in the battle.

Has anyone had experience w the new radio pharmaceutical from Novartis? As I understand, it’s a chemo that delivers the pharmaceutical directly to the cancer cells. The early reports sound promising. Let’s hope it’s hurried to the marketplace.

I'm pretty upset to lose Gunner. Although we only met briefly at a GFMPH, we were clearly brothers in arms and have kept in contact.

He was younger than me, and so brave and true. Live long and prosper... Enjoy the wine and I'll see you then

May he rest in peace now that his fight is concluded. He accepted all challenges and never failed to stand tall with honor. An inspiration to all. God bless and protect his family.

Thanks so much for the link. That is a great obituary. He chose the name Gunner due to his days as a young man playing basketball. My guess is that he didn't embellish his sports career as much as I do.

Yeah, I did not know him either other than by reputation in recent posts and found that he lived about an hour a way from me. A very sad story at a young age with wife and children, my wife thought it was quite sad as well when I showed it to her in the paper.

This is terribly sad. I met Gunner34 at multiple GFMPH events, drove him to the airport from Brusly to New Orleans one year, and talked to him quite a bit here on the forum too.

He was an inspiration. His aggressive approach was admirable, leaving absolutely no stone unturned fighting this beast with every weapon possible. And yet with every setback, he was always positive and engaged in the fight.

Sigh... it is another reminder that we are fighting a real enemy.

Prayers for his family, and all who knew him.

Just found this post, RIP Gunner.
His story was an inspiration. I too was diagnosed with G9 in 2017, originally was diagnosed with G6 in 2012. Its been 9 years since first diagnosed. I take inspiration from those who have survived this terrible cancer and feel really sad that he lost his fight.

When I first joined up here, there were just a few of us fellows in our 40s, who were facing a prostate cancer diagnosis.

A fellow Midwesterner, with common threads in our diagnosis --- Gunner34 was one of my first compadres here ...

We learn indelible life lessons from many fellow travelers in this life.

From Gunner34, I learned the value and importance of reaching out to others, when they receive the news of a health diagnosis.

In the 1946 classic holiday movie, "It's A Wonderful Life" ----the character of Clarence Odbody, the guardian angel, played by veteran actor Henry Travers, said this to central character George Bailey, so memorably brought to life by actor Jimmy Stewart:

"Each man's life touches so many other lives. When he isn't around, he leaves an awful hole, doesn't he?"

Peace to your memory, Gunner34 ... you kept the beacon lit for others!
