Great news. I gather the tumors in the brain itself are not operable
?
Mel
I failed to ask if they were operable or not.
Prior to meeting with neurosurgery, but in reference to potential surgeries to remove tumors, the radiation oncologist stated, “they can’t go in and get them all”. In retrospect, I’m not clear if that was a general reference or specific to Jeff’s circumstances. Maybe both?
The neurosurgeon gave Jeff options as to what to do with the larger tumor.
I don’t recall having options for the smaller ones. The neurosurgeon concurred that radiation would be the best course of treatment, but referred Jeff to another radiation oncologist who specializes in brain metastases/cancer. Neither Jeff or I thought to ask if he couldn’t just take those out too. 🤦♀️ However, since those tumors are in his brain and in a different
location, it would make sense that they aren’t operable.
When we saw neurosurgery, we were under the impression that Jeff wouldn’t be a candidate for surgery at all.
