Hi,
Anyone with a recent SBRT treatment at NY Presbyterian/Weill Cornell? I don't live in NY, but in the east coast and willing to travel. I'm not familiar with the hospital and doctors but have seen their RO, Dr. Nagar giving presentations on MRI guided Viewray's website. Anyone familiar with the level of expertise and care at NYP? Thanks.

Hi Chad, I don’t recall anything at NYP regarding SBRT although their website has info on other types of radiation for PCa including HDBRT. One of the very best for SBRT in the New York area is Sloan Kettering. They identify it as PRECISE. Good luck and possibly someone else will chime in. Terry

Actually, NYP has a MR guided RT vs. CT guided 'Precise' at MSK. But not sure how much better technology would make a difference when it comes to expertise.

I started at NYP and my RO is Dr Deutsch
They are all excellent doctors and tech's. I had first actual radiation on Thursday
It's in the basement but a very nice setting

Oh I realize you mention Weil Cornell and that may be a separate branch of NYP The main campus is on 168th Street and Broadway in Manhattan. Lucky for me that I live on 101st so I just hop a subway for a 10 minute ride.
I'd vouch for the radiation at NYP (Columbia) at 168th but am sure most NY hospitals are top notch.
The office staff are very nice, the doctors excellent and the tech's go out of their way to offer comfort.
Before we decided on SBRT, I tried IMRT but developed retention and then the catheter caused a paraphimosis that was dreadful. That event and the fact that lying on my back causes a lot of pain (hips and back) we decided on SBRT of which I have only 4 sessions left (only 5 total)
Best of luck to you

Yes maybe because the machines weigh so much.

If you are considering SBRT please also consult regarding High Dose Rate brachytherapy. HDR-BT was the inspiration for SBRT. HDR-BT is more conformal to the Prostate and cancer and the radiation does not enter and exit through the body in the way external beam does, so less healthy tissue damage.
