***** Five stars for one of the best questions thus far!
I have not noticed any change in body odour as yet. I'll keep you posted if it changes.

Maybe the antibiotics you took after the operation also cleared up a preexisting sinus/nasal congestion problem

I have been searching for answers to this sort of question but you are the only person I found who even asked it. My underarm odour has also become far more noticeable and more pungent than ever before in my life since my radical prostatectomy. My armpits smell like pickles! Also, I have a completely different odour in my crotch and rectal area…almost as if the prostrate had been acting like a plug to stop odours from escaping from my ass but now that the prostate’s gone there is a different smell “escaping” from that area. It’s not like I smell like feces or anything that strong, but just a different unpleasant odour. Anybody???

I would try special soaps/products made for thise with body-odor problems. See if that makes a difference. Ask a pharmacist.

Hello Riverman, Welcome to the forum.
How long has it been since your prostate surgery? It's pretty normal for everything about
your body to be a bit off for the first six months or so. If your surgery is recent you might want to wait a bit and see if things won't go back to normal.
One question that presents itself is to ask is are you are entirely continent after the surgery? Even guys who regain a decent level of control will sometimes have an occasional squirt of dribble and this can contribute to one's nether regions being less than totally fresh. Also, sometimes changes in body odor can be the result of medication, or supplements, or changes in your diet. Antibiotics and some other medications can change the population of bacteria in your gut and on your skin and this can change the way you smell. One trick that can sometimes help with problems with one's intestinal flora is to add an active-culture yogurt to your diet. You can buy 'probiotic' supplements but they seldom work better than Activia yogurt. For the odor on your skin there are a couple of things to try. You might try an anti-bacterial soap (such as Dial) or if you already use one you can try a milder soap. It's normal and healthy to have some bacteria on your skin but having the wrong sort of bacteria or the wrong amount can contribute to body odor. You can also try shopping around for different deodorants. Recent concerns about
some ingredients -- notably aluminum compounds -- have had established brands of deodorants quietly adjusting their formulas and the change you've been noticing might have more to do with that than with your surgery.

Wow! I read most of this thread before I realized that it was eight years old until resurrected today. No one something smells funny.
Seriously, I would suspect that a change in body odor after prostate cancer treatment might be related to medications.

DITTO... People shouldn't post to OLD Threads.
Here is one of many articles from Doctor Google:

My friend and fellow stinky man,
I have the same problem. My underarm odor got significantly worse after surgery AND using ADT.
I shave my arm pits, and smother my pits with deodorant.
I would rather smell dog carp! Yes, mine is that bad. My T level is about
12. So definitely castrate level.
And if time since surgery is any help, one month shy of 8 years.

I speculate that ADT (hormone therapy) is to blame, rather than surgery.

Old thread or not, this is a pretty good question to ask. Not really sure if a prostatectomy would create more body odor but hormone therapy and the reduction in Testosterone would likely affect mens body odor but maybe it would be because of less body hair. Since bacteria grows in a warm environment, the armpits, and the groin area would likely be most impacted. Those two areas generally have more dense hair than the others which allows bacteria to proliferate which I believe causes those areas to have a stronger odor. Also, if your body odor smells sweet it might be a good idea to talk with a pcp about
diabetes. From what I have read, diabetes can make your body odor smell fruity.
