Hi everyone,

I'm having an RP in two weeks and was wondering about get a booster shot. I had my second shot of Moderna 7 months ago followed by two months of 'hay fever' symptoms like a lot of sneezing and runny nose. True it was in the Spring but I had never had such symptoms before in my life, so I think it could have been a reaction to the vaccine. Hospital regulations do not call for a booster shot (yet) and my doctor is neutral after telling him about my reaction to the second dose. I certainly do not want have sneezing symptoms after surgery. Am I taking a risk not getting boosted for surgery and 1 night hospital stay?

Mayo Clinic strongly recommended I get a booster shot. Each case is different ...

My booster shot was a non-event, with no noticeable side effects.

You definitely qualify for a booster -- I think you could get it done now --- or the day after Thanksgiving --- and then feel some peace of mind, as winter months approach.

Medical doctors are stating the boosters "kick in" with ramped up protection after 48 hours, even.

Each of us have to decide what's best, based on our individual circumstances.

I already fight cancer --- I don't wish to fight corona virus, as well!

If in doubt --- consult with your doctor.

My thoughts on the booster? Get 'r done !

If you are concerned perhaps ask your dr about an antibody test?

FWIW: Both my wife and I got our booster shot (Moderna full dosage) at the beginning of October.
We had zero side effects from the 3rd shot.

Thanks everyone for your advice. I would go for the Pfizer booster this time, maybe it will have a milder SE.

You didn't mention the Flu Shot. Technically they say you can get the booster and the flu shot at the time.... I got my flu shot a month before my booster.... If something went wrong, we'd know more.

There is also the issue of persistent enlarged lymph nodes that happens after receiving RNA vaccines. Reporting is mostly on areas close to site of injection and to delay mammograms, but are we sure it would not cause any pelvic lymph node enlargements that may cause needless biopsies during RP.

Got the 3rd COVID(booster) shot yesterday, all Modernas. Upper arm feels a bit sore from the shot but they warned us that this one may have some mild SE unlike the other 2.
Or maybe arm is sore cuz Grumps loaded a 150lb Champion genny into and out of his truck yesterday.(got power to the new house yesterday)
