If a person wanted to find a good malpractice attorney in another city, how would you go about it? Fairly easy in your hometown. But somewhat difficult to know who is good in a distant city. Anybody had any experience with a similar issue?

No experience with it other than all of the commercials on TV in Georgia. There are some Lawyers with offices in multiple locations. Good luck with your search.

Not sure about that link. I checked my city. That list was MUCH longer than I suspect.
I've always been impressed by Fieger, but it might be that he has a superior marketing department!

Yep, web cites always have to be taken with the proverbial grain of salt. And even when they're right, they may not stay right.

Something I've always liked about this forum is that there are always sharp-eyed people here. I think that's because a lot of us are older -- more experienced -- and thus wiser, and good fact-checkers.

Collectively we've seen a lot, and we can be quick to offer corrections.

Depending on what kind of case it is and how far away the other city is, there is usually an informal network of attorneys who refer cases to one another. So you might want to talk with someone local you know and trust. But know that there might be some fee splitting involved later on.

Years ago I was trying to find an attorney to represent a family friend in a potential personal injury case. I copied key documents and sent letters to about 20 different law firms in a city across the country. It’s risky because you don’t know whether you’re sending info to someone with a conflict of interest; best advice is to not divulge too much.

This was about 20 years ago. I can’t remember how I picked the attorneys to contact. Maybe Martindale-Hubbell? Maybe the state bar lists?

Most attorneys will spend some time talking to you to get an over view and to see if they can help etc.... I did this many years ago.... Three out of the six I talked to told me to forget it and move on... The sixth seemed to have read my mind and was a great fit. The 20 grand she wanted upfront was a show stopper.

Our daughter had a double mastectomy. The plastic surgeon who was supposed to help and restore her really cobbled things up. Causing infection, hospitalization, put the implant in upside down, and on and on.
She just finished a third surgery and the new surgeon remarked how bungled things that he found and corrected where. And found several new issues.
The surgeon is in NW Ohio.
She just found some issues on Friday during surgery. However, others came to light a couple years ago. Statute of limitations may be an issue for some of his mistakes.
This guy needs to be brought to task.
With suggestions made on this thread I have found a law firm in that area that looks reputable. Will have to talk to them.

You have DEFINITE grounds for legal action, to be sure.

I'm sorry your daughter has had to endure this. A lawyer or legal firm that specializes in medical malpractice might be your best bet.

Your daughter DEFINITELY has grounds for a case.

Financial settlements asude, this plastic surgeon may need to be heavily sanctioned --- and have certifications & licenses revoked.

He absolutely needs revocation before someone else is damaged. This poor girl has used sick time, unnecessary hospital stays, not to mention the pain and suffering.
She is a warrior though.

Her sister gave her a silver bracelet when Cancer was first discovered. Inside the bracelet was inscribed: "Fate whispered to the warrior, you cannot withstand the storm; the warrior whispered back I am the storm."
