I believe this discussion portrays a distorted view of typical RP surgery. My actual RP surgery significantly differs from your stated assumptions.
My post surgery report estimates 50 ml blood loss from my single port procedure.
I'll describe my surgery, to address your reference to small physical (surgical?) margins. I'll only be describing the procedure relative to your stated assumption.
The bladder neck was cut above the prostate, and the urethra was cut below the prostate. The prostate was carved out intact, along with adjacent fatty and fibrous tissue. The prostate was placed in a secure bag, and the bag was removed from the abdominal cavity.
