Abdominal pain post radical prostatectomy

about 10 days after surgery I started experiencing a severe cramping type pain in my lower left abdominal area after sitting. The pain lasts for a minute then goes away. I’m going for a post op appointment in 4 days and will mention it to my physician but just checking to see if anyone else has experienced the same type of pain. Thanks!

Could be any one of several things...

Bladder spasm is one. Could also be an internal suture moving around or adjusting, or some early scar tissue doing something.

Weird pains and aches are part of it for a while. It could also be something as benign as a gas pain in your gut that is passing.

I had a lot of weird aches and pains after surgery, went on for a couple of months. They scramble your insides pretty well and put everything back together with only one part left over. Definitely get it checked out but it may be nothing that anyone can find.

Are you sitting in the recliner or laying back? Does it happen when you sit on a couch or chair? In the car? Sometimes when you are folded up, your colon has trouble working right and you can get gas pains which go away when you walk around (or visit the bathroom). Did this start after your catheter was removed? Could be bladder related. Just grasping at straws based on my experience.

Would it be in the area of a hernia? A hernia can disappear when laying down then occur when you stand and pressure builds up. Does the same thing happen when sleeping in a bed or on a couch or have you not got that far yet? Does the pain go away fairly quickly or does it stay with you for a while?

I never could explain what caused many of the odd pains and aches although I had a hernia two years later in an area than never bothered me after surgery until it made its presence known on a long walk that I had done many times during the pandemic. Can’t figure this stuff out…

You might want to try an abdominal binder. Under $20 on Amazon. Helped me after surgery.
