MD Anderson Anyone?

Anybody here on the forum got treatment at MD Anderson? I just got my multi appointment for both surgery and radiation oncology for June 28th. I was wondering any good/bad MD Anderson experience by any forum members.

A fair number have been there, not sure where they are hiding but will bump this up.

MD Anderson is probably the top place for advanced cancer treatment so it would just be a matter of how they are with ordinary cancer situations.

Had RALP done at MD Anderson in 2015. My surgeon was Brian Chapin. Had G8. Still undetectable. I have nothing bad to say about MDA. You are evaluated by a group not just one doctor's opinion. It's a big hospital and you are just a number. But you are a special number. I would send my loved ones there in a heartbeat.

No treatment there, but they were my go to for second opinion.
I can't say enough good things about everyone there.
And I mean everyone.
From Custodial staff to the doctors, they were all very pleasant.
I am one of those people that will pick up a conversation with everyone.
Very pleasant folk.

Thanks for the input. Should I ask my uro to help me get a PSMA Pet scan or hang tight until the MDA appointment comes.

MDA has already pulled up electronically the JH second opinion report and complete URO history from the uro. But they indicated that will also evaluate the biopsies slides before my visit.

I was only able to get a PSMA scan when I became castrate resistant.
But it's worth a try, you won't know unless you ask.
But make sure your insurance will pay for it.
I'm still waiting on BCBS/KS to decide on the remaining 18K.

Just word of caution: Stay away from Baylor/ St Luke’s and Kelsey Seybold urologists.
I had terrible experience with young Kelsey Seybold urogist who did my RP in 2016.
Stay away from St Luke’s hospital, care is substandard . Very disappointed.
In future if needed (God forbid) I would only look for MDA or Methodist hospital in the medical center.
Good luck whatever you choose.

I went there for a second opinion with Dr. Corn. At the time he agreed with my Urologist that he didn't think I needed to do any further treatment yet. I am now stage 4, started Lupron, Casodex. My regular Oncologist gave me latest news that I can continue that treatment and get about 2 years, change or add to the Casodex -get 3-4, add chemo get 4-5. I'm going back to Dr. Corn at MD Anderson for a second opinion again. I haven't updated my signature yet, but I had the PSMA scan. It found spots on sacrum, sternum, 2 ribs, and 4 lymph nodes.
I had a great experience at MD Anderson and believe it will be the same on my next trip. I would recommend.

I used MDA Houston for SRT. Good experience and outcome so far. They have a great radiation dept. I used UT Physicians (previously Memorial Hermann) for my surgery. The MDA surgery doctor was a disappointment in my interview process. Some docs get irritated with questions. It was a cattle call, so I just I was just a number. Not his though!

One of my local hospitals in NJ partnered with MDA and I went there for my SRT. I checked out 4 different hospitals and went with the MDA hospital mostly because of their partnership. I was very pleased with the experience and the outcome.
