This SUCKS

Im back.

Have an appt with the urologist next Tuesday for the 6.7, out of nowhere (look at trends below) PSA rise.

I feel like crap! I have the chills, been peeing a lot, and just finished 10 days of antibiotics. I dont know if prostate cancer feels like this, or if this is more symptomatic of Prostatitis, but it feels like an infection. I FEEL feverish and a bit lightheaded, but my temp is normal. Trying to convince myself it isnt agresssive "C."


Cant wait to get to the bottom of this.

That does suck. But...the vast majority of guys that get diagnosed with prostate cancer have no symptoms at all, so yours certainly aren't typical. Also, prostate cancer is generally characterized by a slow increase in PSA, not the sharp jump that you have, which is more typical of an infection.

I'm glad you're taking antibiotics and I hope you get some relief pronto.

I used to get severe infections and my PSA went as high as 7.4
Odds are it's a bad infection.
BTW I finally had a 30 day course of Cipro and it seems to have stopped the constant infections.

Many years ago, way before I started this journey, I had symptoms similar to yours. The GP had me do a PSA test, and it had jumped from my normal 1.0 or so to 21!! Of course I went beserk, thinking I had prostate cancer at a relatively young age. However, he said it was most likely an infection and started me on Cipro. He also said the antibiotics for prostate infections need to be taken for quite awhile to get inside the prostate. He was right, back to normal after several months.
However, many years later the second time my PSA started to rise (not as fast, though) it was for real.

I had chills, fever, difficulty urinating etc. over 10 years ago. My PSA was 16. Like you, I was scared to death that it was Pca. Had 12 core biopsy, which revealed an infection. The antibiotic that I was on prior to the biopsy (Cipro) didn't seem to help. Was later switched to Trimethoprim and it worked for whatever bacteria that I had. The important thing is to stay vigilant. If this turns out to be just an infection, stay on top of things. I had my PSA drawn every 6 months and had 3 biopsies in total over a 10 year period. Two were 12 core biopsies that showed no Pca. My Uro performed an MRI guided biopsy which found Pca, after a steadily rising PSA. Stay on top of things. Best of Luck and God Bless!
