I'm OK, and living on blessed, but borrowed time since trolling the skies over North Vietnam in '72. It's my wife that concerns me. A raw egg...hard on the outside and mush on the inside, refusing support help, bending over backwards for me, and maintaining a tough façade. I don't deserve her.

I suspect lots of PCa spouses are in the same boat, as their men obsess about prostate bad luck. Keep that in mind, my friends. The time we're allotted is but a blink in this massive universe. Use it honorably and well.

I've had several PSMA scans at UCLA over the past two years. They each cost around $3,000 out of pocket. My last PSMA scan a couple months ago--and after FDA approval--was denied by insurance, but my doc is appealing that decision. We'll see. But not sure where your $15k amount came from...

It came from the clinic that does the scans at the University of Minnesota. When I was not sure if the insurance was going to approve it, I asked them how much it would be out of pocket, and that was the number they gave me. Seems to me that the clinic that is administering the scans should be a pretty reliable source. But maybe that's what insurance pays but if you pay out of pocket directly it might be less. Our health care system is so screwy.

My dad had the PSMA PET scan with pylarify on Nov 12. We will be going in for results tomorrow. I did get to speak to someone just a bit and she indicated there could be potential bone Mets in ribs. Of course we have not spoken to the oncologist yet, so not 100% sure and she indicated other scans will likely be needed to determine for sure. I have been crying off and on all day. Dads PSA was “only” .3 and I thought requesting this test early would help to prevent bone Mets. I am thankful that I asked for this scan as waiting for PSA to get around 1 to do regular scans just didn’t sit well with me. As always, praying for my dad and everyone who fights this terrible disease. Doctors say bone Mets is not a death sentence….praying that is true.
