Fast rise in PSA

I'm curious. My PSA had stayed on a slow rise for 10 years. The highest (other than original diagnosis) being .93 in August of 2021. All that time I was on Finasteride. My doctor took me off it February of 22. In April of 22 my PSA had jumped from .98 to 3.93. Have any of you had a jump of that much, that fast? I was under the impression that I should see a couple doublings. That's why we did no treatment during those 10 years - because they were looking or two doublings in a row. So, in 8 months mine quadrupled.

Is that an anomaly or have any of you had that fast of a one time jump in 8 months?

No direct experience. The estimate of 2X for Finasteride is just an estimate. Seems that your PSA continued to climbed in 8 months then doubled after off the Finasteride for a while. Finasteride hides the magnitude of the problem and doubling may not be as obvious as when off of it. I think you already know you have an issue so this becomes academic to some degree. Wish I could help and hope your next PSA is undetectable or close to it.

I had a fast rise in 2020/21. I had been undetected after surgery in 2013 and radiation in 2014, along with 2 years of Lupron, until mid-2018. My PSA slowly rose for 2 years and then at the end of 2020 it kind of took off. It went from 2.7 in Dec 2020 to 4.8 in May 2021. In October of 2020, I had an Axumin PET Scan that showed no mets. In May 2021, I had CAT and Bone Scans at MAYO in Phoenix that showed a spot on my spine and possible retroperitoneal lymph node mets. So being a Gleason 9 this cancer can really take off when it gets a hold again.
Right now I am on Lupron and Erleada and am undetected. My oncologist at University of Arizona says this treatment should keeps things in check for a long time and then then there will be other treatments. I choose to believe him. I know Cyclone has been on Zytiga for I think 5 years so there is a lot of hope for us in our situation. While we're on a rough road, hopefully it will be a long one!

My husband's PSA at 7 weeks post surgery was 10.0. At 11 weeks post surgery it had risen to 14.2.
In March of 2016 his PSA was <.05, but by June of 2016 it started rising and in September of 2016 it had reached 2.5. In October of 2016 he started on the EMBARK trial. He was taken off his meds after the reached undetectable again, but his PSA started rapidly rising again, so he was put back on his meds. He's been on the trial now for almost 7 years and his PSA remains undetectable. Every jump he's ever had was a big one. So far, as long as he remains in treatment, his PSA stays down.
