Radiation SE, some help needed

Just talked to a neighbor of mine who was classified GL 8 and has had identical treatments to what I had. He had over 20 IMRT treatments and completed 18 months of Orgovyx therapy. His PSA has remained low and his testosterone is increasing, after being tested two times during the last six months. He developed severe diarrhea after his third IMRT session and it has continued now for 23 months. He is home bound due to this. If he has to go out, he stops eating the day before just to keep from having an accident. He also can’t sleep at night because of several bathroom visits. His doctor has suggested many treatments which have not worked. If anyone has had a similar experience and found relief, help would be greatly appreciated.
On a side note. Money is not a problem if he needs to travel. However as you can see traveling may not be an option. Thanks a bunch in advance and my best to all.

I about 6.5 years ago I had RP and then about 4 months later I had 40 rounds of radiation. While the diarrhea was not as bad as your friends, It kept me thinking of where was the bathroom and never trusted a fart. During radiation and for the next 3 years or so, I had about 3 bowel movements with in 3 hours of waking up. They hit me all of a sudden and I had to stop and gain control before moving. I only soiled myself a dozen times or so for the 6.5 year time frame from radiation until recently.

After about 4/5 years after the first round of RT, the BM got down to one or 2 in the morning, but same urgency persisted.

After 6.5 years I have competed another 28 rounds of radiation, same thing with BM, but I have soiled my self several times and wet the bed. I ended radiation June of this year and the diarrhea is now down to 2x within 2 hours waking up and have not soiled my self in a month or so So I wear pea pads now at bed time and ALLWAYS know where the bathroom is located at home and while out.

Not Eating and taking Imodium have done nothing to control BM, it took a long time first round of RT to get better and I know improvements have recently happened. I see my RO and MO next month.

I once heard someone on this site say that radiation is the gift that keeps on giving --well it does for some of us, in more than one-way.

Pooping and diarrhea 4-5 times every morning is what drove me to a colonoscopy. Diagnosed with ulcerative colitis.

That colonoscopy should be done by someone with experience in poking around in an already damaged colon. IMO…that’s worth traveling for.
