akai - This is where you want to go to check drug plans. If you log into your Medicare account, you can do it there also and it will pre-fill the normal drugs you use:
https://www.medicare.gov/plan-compare/#/?year=2023&lang=enI entered a Pasadena Zip code for 2023 and it came up with the same variances that this thread is about
. A number of plans have a good deal on Abiraterone and a bunch don't. There is also a cost issue with the different pharmacies which you can check there also.
If you check Abiraterone on GoodRX, you will find places like Rite Aid and Costco and also mail order will have prices in the $200-$400 per month range so $2400 -$4800 per year if you wanted to pay cash without any insurance "help" which is the most exposure you can have if you did 12 months without changing Part D plans which is unlikely.
You (and me) will have some options if and when the time comes and Medicare slows down the madness after a few months so the annual cost is in the $10-12K range, not $20K+. Keep in mind if you end up on other drugs, there may no better deals and only the manufacturer can cut you a break.
