Colonoscopy

I had a colonoscopy yesterday. It was my 3rd one, first 10 yrs ago ( had polyps) and 2nd one 5 yrs ago before my HDR Boost treatment, again had a polyp hence the 5 yr interval.

Anyhow I spoke with the Doc prior to the procedure, he had done the colonoscopy 5 yrs ago, told him I had the radiation for the prostate cancer to let him know.

anyhow after the procedure when I was in the recovery room, he told me everything looked good. No damage from the radiation. I did have another polyp which they removed. So will be back in 5 yrs.

I was happy there appears to be no issues in my rectum from the radiation, at least nothing has shown up yet.

Yes I am 5 yrs out since treatment, so nice to see no effects here as yet.

Posted so people can see that if you have a good practioner, you can have good results.

I had a colonoscopy a couple of months ago, which is about 7 years after my IMRT/IGRT radiation treatment. The doctor said he couldn't see any radiation damage. But he did find one polyp so it looks like 5 years from now I have to endure the rigors of the infamous prep.

hey the prep has come a long way! i was offered pills that i would cost me $40 but i said nah. so i was given bottles of liquid that were smaller in volume than the previous prep

Ah, the prep is not a big deal LOL This has been my 3rd one, so a Pro .

THey actually sent a report to my chart with 8x10 color glossys showing the colon. Kind of interesting looking up the terms, actually has a shot of where the small intesting merges into the ascending section of the colon.

I have been having some bloating and cramping in my right flank, but that has gone away, so I assume the polyp in my transverse colon may have been the issue.

Anyhow I guess once you have a colonoscopy post radiation you get a confirmation as to how well the RO did sparing the rectum.
