Orgovyx vs Abiraterone

I started as a Gleason 9. Had robotic surgery, five years later chemo, and on Abiraterone for past five years,
PSA remains steady at .02 for past five years. I was wondering if anyone has changed over from Abiraterone to Orgovyx? I mentioned it to med. onc. who said I will get about same results, maybe with less side effects. In any event she had no objection to changing.
My dad always said, "if it's working leave it be."
Any of you folks have any experience like this?

My bad. Yes, I am on Lupron. Just wasn't thinking. The meds have kind of messed up my brain functions (what's left of them).
I don't know how Orgovyx affects ones cognitive ability. Hopefully others who have changed will give some input as to side effects.

Bill, I have been on Orgovyx for over a year. I have never experienced the brain fog or cognitive decline that others here have experienced on different forms of ADT. All of the other SEs, weight gain, bigger boobs, no libido are on-going. Being tired in the afternoon and the hot flashes have diminished. I however, did not switch from Lupron. Just one month of Firmagon. I will say that one pill a day is very easy to remember first thing in the morning. The cost through Medicare advantage is $40.00/month for me. My best to you.

Sounds like it may be worth a try. I will have to get a little more input from onc. She was just a little vague and just said different med same results.
Just don't like some of the side effects of Lupron.

Hello, Mr. Bill ~

You are a loyal "battle brother" of mine here, and I always follow all of your posts.

I don't have first-hand experience with ORGOVYX yet ~ a newer form of ADT treatments.

However, I DO have the first-hand experience of having my oncologist lead me through transitioning from LUPRON to FIRMAGON and ultimately to ZOLADEX injections.

The "transitions" were seamless ~ and the transitions were in an attempt to find the form of ADT that better suppressed testosterone ~ to help eliminate "spikes & flares" in PSA.

Along the way, my oncologist stated that we could always "transition back" to LUPRON, if the alternate forms of ADT didn't work out.

I thought my experience would shine a light on the transition process for me.

I was encouraged by the fact that we were working TOWARDS a form of ADT that would potentially work BETTER for me, and it paid off.

Along the way, I was assured that I could easily "transition back" to LUPRON, if need be ...

In my case, it was a situation where "nothing ventured, nothing gained" was the overriding thought!

In my case, "third time is the charm" worked in my favor ~ as we discovered ZOLADEX injections worked the best for me.
