Sad Story

Mumbo, thanks for making the article easily accessible. Not much in life can get me choked up anymore. This story brought a tear to my eye. I can't begin to imagine what he or his wife went through.

It is most unfortunate that he didn't get a PSA check before he became disabled from the PCa.

I must note this: one of the most life - threatening aspects of a stage 4 cancer diagnosis is depression. A T4 diagnosis is not sad in and of itself, our reaction to it can very well be, however.

Thanks for sharing this story. It brought back sad memories for me of the 10-month period my mom battled stage 4 colon cancer at the age of 72. She and I were especially close, and I struggled terribly during that time. I can empathize with the author’s wife about trying to find the right words to share with someone who is dying. I was blessed to be able to take intermittent days off of work while she was sick - 30 days in total of family medical leave - so I could share my newborn daughter with my mom. As painful as that period was, I’ll never regret taking that time off from work, even though my employer punished me for it in the end.

Yes, well written. At the same time, hard to read.
So many of us, me included, are more blessed than we realize.
