Vince, like you I am on 40 mg of Lipitor and have been taking it several years with no problem. Crestore did give me leg pain.
I take the Lipitor, along with Eliquis, for blood clotting issues (pulmonary embolism and a stroke). I eat mainly a Vegan/Mediterranean diet.
I am 76, and exercise a couple of hours per day. Swim, pickleball and walk. In the past I ran and did triathlons, but the knees have worn out.
I do not like taking the statin or eliquis, but figure my diet and exercise was not enough to protect me.
Oh yeah, a couple of years ago my wife's PCP started my wife on 20 mg of Lipitor, for all of the same reasons you have been given. My wife, a nurse practitioner, was skeptical (she had great lipid panels) and asked her medical friends and did research …. bottom line, she went on the protocol. No problems with 20 mg Lipitor.
