It has been a week since my biopsy and nothing on my charts. Should I call? My urologist is away for two weeks. Should I have any comfort in my urologist saying, “ I think this is much ado about nothing and I have done a lot of these”, during the biopsy? I know desperate for anything!

Sometimes no news is good news. You can always call and check up on things if so inclined.

There are laws now that require the prompt reporting to patients but you never know about something like pathology, not quite the same as a blood test. It is also possible that they are week out in the pathology dept and might be done today. Labor Day three day weekend never speeds anything along either. I had my biopsy on Aug 30th years ago and it was a day after Labor Day before doctor called with results.

Got my report late this afternoon. Says that I have a positveP540S in two locations but that it doesn’t necessarily equate to cancer?
I think this is good news?

Hugo, I’m not familiar with the term P540S; but, certainly recommend that you review these results when your urologist returns. Although most forms of prostate cancer are very slow growing it’s best to stay vigilant. Best wishes…Terry

I remember a former participant on this site who had 8 or more? biopsies before they found the cause of his elevated psa, a tumor in the transition zone.
That’s PC for you, the “good” cancer to have.

Prostate tissues with small focus of atypical glands, highly suspicious of low grade carcinoma. Although these findings are highly atypical and suspicious of for adenocarcinoma , there is insufficient cytologic architectural atypia to establish a definitive diagnosis.
This was LL

LP- high grade PIN with adjacent small atypical glands where it is difficult to determine whether the adjacent small atypical glands represent outpouchings from adjacent high grade PIN or associated focal infiltrating low grade adenocarcinoma.

Hi Hugo -- is there a PIRADS number indicated from your MRI? From biopsy, is there a Grade Group? Gleason score? I hope you've gotten some clarity from the Urologist, but without any of those diagnostic indicators it looks like you're a candidate for active surveillance. Good luck!

Saw my local Canadian urologist. He says the pathology reports indicates there is currently no Pca. That I should take another PSA in 6 months and come and see him.

He isn’t sure why my PSA is so high. He thinks it could just be inflammation.

So my urologist at John Hopkins says,
The good news is the biopsy was ALL NEGATIVE FOR CANCER and there were only a few tiny areas of suspicious perhaps for a low grade prostate cancer but NOT diagnostic of that.
I presume then I am active surveillance?

So i am currently on active surveillance. Both my urologist at John Hopkins and my urologist in Canada wants me to have another MRI in the next 6 months. My PSA is still hovering around 7.5.
Quick question. My testosterone is low. I am incredibly active and recovery at 57 is way slower then it use to be. I understand i am aging. One urologist says testosterone replacement isn't a problem the other says it is.
Any thoughts?

Hugo, good for you to be on AS. That is a great path to be on, just do keep doing the "Active" part.

TR therapy, as you've already experienced, is controversial. However, it sounds like your Uro is up on the latest research, so, especially with the AS, it might be a good thing for you.

There are a few guys in here who have done it, either with AS, or even with higher levels of cancer, and had success. Hopefully they will check in with comments as well. Good luck!
