Medical Oncologist or Urologist?

I had a recurrence of my prostate cancer that spread to lymph nodes and sternum. My current psa 9/8/2023 is at 10.100

My first diagnosis was psa 67 4+5=9 with met to pelvic bone. Whole pelvic radiation 45, lupron, Zytiga and Prednisone

I am currently under no treatment. MO and RO say adt and maybe Zytiga and Prednisone. No spot radiation or clinical trials. I would like to transfer my treatment to a local doctor. Do I need a medical oncologist or a urologist?

Did the RO specify why no spot radiation? I'm wondering if it's worth seeing another RO for a second opinion on that. But to answer your question, yes you should be seeing an MO and preferably one that specializes in prostate cancer.

My 5/26/23 psa test was 7.630 and then it started going down to the 7/20/23 psa test was 7.400 then I had a 8/9/23 psa test at 10.100


I meet with my mo 7/23/23. She said since my psa was going down we would do psa tests every two months and meet again late November. She also referred me to my original ro to see if he could do spot radiation. She dx me with oligometastatic prostate cancer this time. She said since my psa was going down I would not qualify for any clinical trials. She also said we would start intermittent adt when the psa hit 10.000.


I meet with my ro and he said the sternum metastasis was not causing any problems and the lymph nodes were where he did the original 45 radiation treatments could not be done again. 


I was hoping for a clinical trial or spot radiation but it sounds like intermittent adt then vacations till the psa hits 10.00.
