I might have. After a G9, It took me 6 years after surgery (only) to reach BCR. The surgery showed clear nodes but a tiny positive margin + seminal vesicle invasion. I stayed undetectable- < .01 ng/ml- for 15 months, and then stayed right at .01 for the next 21 months, so 3 years at .01 or less. 4 more years to reach 0.2.
Scans, including driving 90 miles to Memphis for 2 Auxumin(sp?) scans continued to show nothing for the next 2 years. Then because the PSA kept rising, they repeated a regular bone scan and CAT scan locally(not very many months after the previous Auxumin scan). I remember thinking: why are they doing this less sensitive scan, if the much more sensitive auxumin scan showed nothing just a few months before. And I was surprised because: there it was, big time. Wide spread mets showing on both scans, bone and lymph nodes. Many places EXCEPT the prostate bed, the one place they had been wanting to radiate. Now no way to do the spot RT I had been discussing with them, just too many.
That was all over a few months time period, something well under a year. From clear scans on the most sensitive scan to wide spread mets on the less sensitive scans in under a year, maybe under 6 months(I would have to look to be more exact). I have recently heard the term "turbo cancer", and I could not help but wonder.
So, it does happen. After starting the anti-man drugs, I was back to undetectable 30 days later ( from a bit over 6 ), and the one year scans(regular) were much improved. 2 year scans due in about
a month.
