The Library Chicken
One day a chicken goes into a library.
It walks up to the librarian and says “Book, book, book.”
So the librarian gives the chicken three books. The chicken tucks two of the books under one of its wings and the other book under the other wing, and walks out.
The next day, the chicken returns the three books, and again says, “Book, book, book.” So the librarian gives the chicken another three books. The chicken again tucks the books under its wings and walks out.
This goes on for several days. Finally the librarian, flabbergated at this chicken's odd behavior, decides that the next time she will follow the chicken out of the library to see just where it's going and what it's doing with all those books.
So the next day, after the chicken comes into the library, says “Book, book, book” and picks up another three books and leaves, she follows it to a lily pond in a nearby city park.
She then watches as the chicken walks up to a frog sitting at the edge of the lily pond, and drops the books beside the frog.
The frog then hops over to the books, selects one, and, while balancing itself on three of its legs, it uses its other leg to open the book, and, flipping through the pages of the book with its free leg, it says.
“Read-it, read-it, read-it.”
