Saw my (Secondary) cardiologist this morning, when I asked him about the hamstring issues being related to statin, he said, possible but doubtful.
Separately he wants me to add Zetia to my regimen, to hopefully control not only cholesterol (which is already under control) but also triglycerides (which is not under control). He said after I start Zetia, I should go off the statin for a month and see how my hamstring feels. Not sure I am going to take his advice. I may wait until May, when I see my primary cardiologist, back in NY, (I'M IN Florida right now) and run it by him
He also wants me to start Colcichine. This is a drug that has long been approved for gout, and recently based on large studies , was approved for heart disease. Studies show it decreases heart events pathway is decreased inflammation. Same thing I may wait until I see my NY CARDIOLOGIST BEFORE STARTING IT. He sent in the scrip, so I will decide when I receive it.
This takes me from 7 to 9 prescription meds. Makes me wonder, at some point, is it too many? Having dinner tonight with a retired pharmacist friend, I will ask him
