I fractured my hip right through a metastasis??!

I fell recently and fractured my hip. Hairline, still in position, normally bone should heal in time and with weight bearing.

The fracture was right through a met. And I don’t think it would have fractured had I had normal bone there. The fall wasn’t that bad.

THOUGHTS?: 1. Will the “bone” heal in time or is there no “bone”, having been displaced by cancer? and

2. Having split open the met and exposed the interior directly to the bloodstream have I now released more mature cancer cells into my bloodstream?

I don’t expect any one to “know” the answers, but your thoughts are welcome.

No answers here but your observations are good questions for your oncologist. Are you doing any of the standard bone treatments like Xgeva injections? Pretty standard with all the nasty cancer meds and bone issues.

Such an intriguing question that I asked Copilot (new name for Microsoft Bing AI) :

Thanks 81GyGuy for doing 'the hard work'.
I think that the AI answer is pretty good (and better than what I could have written) considering that this is a very unusual situation.
I will add that, unfortunately, metastasis was probably ongoing even prior to the fall. It's just that it's hard to see a few 'loose' cells with metastatic potential that are looking around your body for a place to settle and grow.

Several years ago a new member came onto the forum, his name escapes me. He was relatively young and diagnosed after his femur broke while he was descending stairs at his home. His PSA was over 5,000 and he was riddled with metastatic tumors both bone and visceral. His femur broke at the sight of a severe bone met.
