Biopsy tomorrow....

Hello everyone,

First of all, I would like to thank everyone for their kind words and advice. I am so happy that we have found such an informative and caring community.

My husband decided this morning after much discussion and praying, to go ahead with the biopsy. Luckily  his doctor was able to schedule him in tomorrow afternoon. I have to say that I am quite happy that he came to this decision. The doctor said that he will be taking 12 samples, and that we should have the results by Monday afternoon or Tuesday morning at the latest. While I am very nervous....I am also thankful that we were able to get an appointment so quickly. I feel like that was just another sign that we have made the right decision.

I will update as soon as I find out anything. Thank you all again for your answers. They are appreciated more than you know.

Wow Sara, that was fast!

Thats great they could get him in so fast, it does seem like things were just meant to be sometimes because of the way it works out.  I think you'll both rest easier once you know for sure what exactly your dealing with.

We'll be keeping our fingers crossed for you both and hoping for the best.

   Just wanted to get this "heads up" message in before your day ends tomorrow.

   I have had a couple of bios performed on my prostrate. The first one was done

   about ten years ago and the second was performed last year. Past years they

   only used to pull 6-8 samples. Last years session they took 23 samples. I do not

   recall any after effects from the first session. Last years session surprised me by

   my having a bloody discharge during the night of my biopsy. (I was probably warned

   about it in the papers they gave me when I left the Medical Center but didn't pay

   close enough attention) Your husband may have a similar experience. There was a

   slight discharge now and then for a few days after. So you might want to prepare -   

   just in case. Oh - the bio is no big deal physically the discomfort is mostly in the mind.

   They send you home with a couple of pain pills just in case and anti- biotics as well.

Hi, Sara. Wish you the very best this afternoon. Weekend waits are tough, but you'll get through. Glad to hear you're going ahead. Afterward, stay close by when he's in the bathroom. It's a little off-putting to see any blood and it's easy to panic when a guy sees it. (We're pretty used to it over the years!) Just a calming voice nearby can help.

On the other hand, there may be nothing afterward. From the research I did on biopsies and from the doc himself, it could be several weeks post-biop of brownish semen on occasion. (Swim? Where are you on this?)

Hi Newbie    Welcome…Sara,   The group of “special individuals” you will meet along the way in this forum will be here to give you both support & encouragement.   We are all so willing to share our personal journeys   with prostate cancer….in hope that you, your husband, and New Newbies….can pull from them to make your journey “smoother” and less scary!   So read, read, and read….
