Question about Cystoscopy I am going to have done

Hello, I am going in for my first Cystoscopy and was hoping for some information on what to expect during. after, etc...

Biggest question I have is I have been told they will do local and having nightmares about where they will be giving me a shot!?!?!

I have Crohns and have had many colonoscopys done but never had cameras in the front end.

Al,
Doll, if you've had a colonoscopy done you won't have a problem with a cystoscope. There is sooo much more discomfort involved in sticking 6 feet of scope into one's intestine and a thin urethrascope barely 14 inches in total length. You will do just fine. A little valium wouldn't be a bad idea. It's clear you are worried but try to relax...it's not a terrible procedure.

Al, My husband had a cysto in the doctor's office. He was given an IV of valium and he didn't really remember anything. He was a little groggy when he came out of there and they wheeled him to our car. He did have a few bladder spasms and they sent home a sample of something to control those. After a few hours he was back to normal. Hope this helps!
