My day of truth arrives on December 12th......... Anxiously waiting

You mentioned concern about gettin gup and down your stairs.  I wouldn't worry too much.  We have a tall house that is stacked much mike a town house.  I didn't have too much difficulty gettin gup and down the stairs even from the first day.  I certainly went a lot slower (and my wife at first wanted always to be right next to me going up and down), but i was able to get up and down whenever I wanted to.  Our family room is up on the third floor and I was able to do that too.

Today must be your bowel prep day. Take heart that this is really worse that the post op!

I felt the anticipation was way worse than the surgery and the bowel cleansing was the worst of all. Best of luck Tuesday.

Jay - Yep, you'll be back on the tennis courts before you know it. I had my surgery (robotic) last Wednesday (6th). Catheter out this morning.  For me, the hardest thing was realizing that there ISN"T a hardest thing! You're gonna do great! Good luck and we'll be watching for you.

Well folks, it's the magic hour of 1PM..... Bowel Prep time as all of you know..... Now, where's the magnesium citrate? Oooooooohhhhhhhh, yummy!!!!! The bathroom won't be far from me!!!!  Hehehe

Also means I haven't had a dang thing solid to eat today..... but, I gorged myself on a nice fat steak last night..

All of you are amazing..... I credit all of you with helping make what might have been an ordeal into something bearable. Just reading the posts uplifts me......

ALLrighty  now, down the hatch!!!!!!!!!!

JayMan, It's almost time! You are all set to do the DaVinci dance. If you live in Broward or Palm Beach Co. and want some company, let me know and I'll come by. Please don't even worry your self about it now, but after you are over the bridge and feeling better or you need anything let me know!!

Don't know if you'll be online again before surgery, but I can guess what you're feeling right now.  Hang in there, JayMan.  You are in my prayers for a great surgical outcome tomorrow. You now belong to a very select fellowship--men and women who are on the  prostate cancer journey.

Hi Jay!

Good to hear back from you. Don't be afraid to take your pain meds . . . .be sure and take them regularly (i.e. every 4 hours) even before you start to hurt . . this doesn't allow the pain to take over.

A few days post surgery, Bob decided he didn't need the pain meds . . . but his body still called for them . . rather than pain he got clammy and pale looking . . . . .just a couple of tylenol soon relieved that, so he continued taking them a few days longer.

The pain meds help make sitting more comfortable too.

At some point I will relate my day day of surgery which, for me, was an experience I will never forget. I'll get to that later. But, I want it said for the record, that I am healing wonderfully and improving markedly every day!

The whole catheter episode was just plain weird, and, as it turned out, had an extremely positive outcome as I realized when they took the darn thing out, that I had my continence back! My confidence exploded after the Foley removal! That first pee, after the 5 hour backup, was one of the most exquisite experiences imaginable as it was a total relief from what was borderline agony. Sometimes the mere absence of pain and discomfort after suffering for awhile is semi-orgasmic. Hell, after I returned from the hospital emergency room, there was a wonderful dinner waiting for me! And after consuming that meal, I even started to move my bowels after a 5-day backup!!!! WHOOOOOOOOPEEEEEEEEE!!!! Ah, the simple things in life.
