I got my prescription for a Vacurect today and will order tomorrow. I know I will be anxious so I will heed the warnings about being too agressive. Slls, the more advice you have on use will be appreciated.

Yes, information from actual users would be great. We're starting at the "low" end with a manual job for $79 from Allegro Medical. Having good success with Cialis, but we want to use the pump for daily therapy. I saw on one storefront the Vacurect was priced at $179.

What I'm reading is that sometimes with a pump, the penis can be cold and numb, along with some residual pain. And the ring should never be left on longer than 30 minutes. But that's just Internet digging; we'll see how this goes in person.

The vacurect arrived. It took a while to get it, they were out of them. I got it yesterday and read the directions. They want you to practice for 5 to seven days. So yesterday afternoon I pumped it up. It was definately a different experience not sexual at all, (of course I was by myself for this test run) more like doing an exercise routine. It came up sort of flacid not rock hard but a lot of blood was being pumped in there which is proabably good. I got up this morning told my wife I was going to do my exercise and put it and pumped it up again. This time it came up pretty decent big improvement over yesterday. Probably could have intercourse with the one that was pumped up this morning with avery co-operative spouse which I am blessed to have. Anyway, I will keep up the therapy for a week and post back the results. My first impressions of this unit is it is very user friendy the pumping action is very natural, it is compact and would travel well. I am only posting this personal inforamtion in the hope that it helps someone else, as this disease is a bummer in a lot of ways.

My order was confirmed today and is shipping out in the morning. They said that it should arrive in 3 or 4 days so perhaps I will have a Christmas present. Thinks for sharing your experience. I can see where it may take a few days to get the maximum reaction. I will sahe mine once I give it a try.

I understand that is does not feel natural, but after a while it will feel right.
When I first used it I pressured it too much, ended up with red rings around the shaft, painful too, stretch marks.
Now after almost 8 years, I think it is the best way to go, no worry about being able to perform in old age. And a plus the orgasms are better than ever, your results may vary.
I did try the pill, all got was a headache.

Hi Gals and Guys,

Thanks for all the interesting and useful info in this thread.  I had surgery 2 weeks ago and the doc said to start using my old ED medicine (Levitra).  I did and absolutely nothing happened.  Nothing - complete flat tire.  We are looking for alternatives and your info is very helpful.

I think the "flat tire" is common for several weeks post surgery. Just check with your doctor before you use alternative means, as you may be way to close to surgery to consider a pump. Remember,, no overdoing!!

I am just in the practice stage per their instructions. yeah As of right now I can say things are looking up for a successful launch and I expect lift off and penetration with in the week. The doc told us to try our Levitra until the PSA test on 1/3. I never had total failure before so it just came as sort of a shock. I will take his and your advice and be patient till then. Seeing you younger guys go through the process of regaining potency gives me great hope..........

OKAY Fellas,

Why is shock still the discriptive word for post-operative ED? I know I've heard each and every one of you talk about your Doc's having given information on nerve damage and recovery. I know Paul's Doc gave it to him straight... there are no guarentees but it is the exception, not the rule to see any activity sooner than 6-9 months. Oral meds won't work without intact/working nerves...key word, WORKING!This takes time....a cm (an inch) a month to be exact and there are at least 8 cm of healing to do. Some of you will get good function, some will get middle of the road and some will not get much if any at all. It's a darned crap shoot but beats the alternative. Other factors also play a role. Age, HTN, DM (diabetes), medications, desire, STRESSSSSSSS :>0....there are other reasons. Time is the biggest hill to climb but with time, everything can be resolved. Just may not be the way ya'll wanted it to be is all. Guys....women aren't all that picky. We don't care what the package looks like really. We like whats in it :>)

Oral meds work on more than one level so getting an erection is only a part of the game. We want to take advantage of any nitrus oxide to help keep those tissues healthy. Even when natural erections are missing, the tissues still benefit. Keeping tissues healthy is also the purpose of shots, MUSE and pumps in the early months post-op....sex is a just bonus! Nice bonus eh?

For those with no contraindications to L-Arginine, I suggest using it twice a day. It's a precursor to nitrus oxide and long term, could enhance the effectiveness of oral meds and aid recovery of function. I really do think the next generation of drugs will have l-arginine in them....but it was my idea :>) I should get a royalty for writing drug companies with my thoughts on this years ago. Actually, I was thinking of children and pulmonary hypertension or cystic fibrosis but it was still my idea..maybe!

The pump does help keep tissues elastic and health so if any of you decide it isn't your cup of tea for sex, keep using it several times a week as an excersise tool. It does make a difference. Keeps those tissues moving and able. Not to mention more full when erect. Kinda like a push up bra for the penis. Okay then...I've said enough.

Swim - your info is sooooo valuable to us all. Your comments one inch per month puts things into perspective. I'll be reading your post to Bob . . . . because to quote Biker (Jim) a "complete flat" is what we get with most efforts, and we are nearing the 3 month mark post surgery.

Way to go to Jim . . .imagine being able at 72 to say he's never had a failure before!

Our doctor also told us straight that ED would be an after effect . . . .especially with only sparing one nerve. He also said that nothing is considered "not working" unless it's still in that stage 2 years post surgery. . . . . and has promised a return to at least what we had before. . . . . of course meaning that anyone with some ED symptoms prior to surgery cannot expect perfection after.

I needed that slap-in-the-face. I got it now! Pump is on the way and urologist has already set me up for injections with his PA if I am not satisfied with the pump. He really believes that I would like injections better but is not pushing one way or the other. If I can get dry and not have leakage everytime we initiate sex it would help a lot. I did have a great orgasm this week better then any I can remember before the surgery. Hey, there may be a positive to this after all!

Tamu my doctor seems to be real big on the shots. Could it be there is some profit in them? They mix it up ther and sell it there in the docs office. Not that $$$ is a motivation (HA) but sometimes I wonder especially when the throw away paper you lay on the exam table has VIAGRA PFIZER printed all over it, in color no less with the pretty blue pill.  I'm hoping for a more natural healing with my own blood and it seems that the more blood that can be pumped in there the better for healing. Thanks again to Simom for that dose of reality. This was a major surgery and invasion of ones body and it is going to take a while to heal. I'm trying to get back on being thankful for what I have and not focusing so much on the what I want and like Biker says I want it now! Today I am thankful everyday is gift.

I know this sounds odd but I have heard from a couple of men on other forums who leaked less after beginning shots and / or the pump. Who knows...can't hurt, might help!

"There is sex after PC"

It's been almost two years since my DaVinci surgery. The next 18 months of ED therapy was trial and error on Cialis, which gave me a back ache and little other results. I added the Osbon Erecaid pump to the mix, and the results were pretty good. Using that and the Cialis provided some good old fashioned sex! Then, six months ago, I switched to Viagra. In the last month i've been able to just use the Viagra with no pump with good results. Then two weeks ago, successful intercourse with nothing but natural simulation.

I've found that alcohol definitely has a major affect on the ability to get an erection if you are using just Cialis or Viagra. At least for me this is true. The pump will still work, but the best bet is to avoid alcohol. I feel I still have a ways to go, but at least i'm seeing some results.

Everyone stay positive and just keep doing what your doing. It may take awhile, at least in my experience, but the end results are sure sweet!

In my opinion, the Vacurect vacuum erection device (VED) is the very best.

I have been using an Erecaid System Esteem model VED for over three years. Although it has done the job, it has some shortcomings. The worst is that it has a tendency to draw my scrotum and a testicle up into the tube. As the air seal is between the tube opening and the body, pubic hair can be a problem in getting and maintaining this seal. Also the snapping of the tension ring off of the tube and onto the penis is unpleasant.

A magazine advertisement first drew my attention to the Vacurect VED. The superior feature is the tension ring system. It seals to the penis shaft, not to the body and so will not draw in scrotum or testicle and pubic hair will not affect its use. Since it is on the penis from the start, the snapping of a ring from tube to penis is bypassed.

An additional good point is that the nuisance of loading the ring onto the tube is eliminated.

The Erecaid does have some features missing on the Vacurect. It does not have a vacuum release valve. The tube and pump are one assembly so that the tube can not be cleaned with hot soapy water as can the Erecaid. There are no length markings, but these are easily added with a permanent marker pen.

Interesting reading, to say the least.  Quite helpful.

With respect to the vacuum erection device therapy, just curious:  are most of you using the erections that are created most of the time, or merely doing the exercise?

Raheeb, Jeff wants to use his erection for intercourse. how's that for blunt truth? he keeps saying he should use it every day for rehab, but then he doesn't, and when he does get the pump out, he wants me there. :) what can I say? I'd rather not have intercourse every day so he's not using it every day...
