Although I have not been posting recently I have been following the converstaion. I have been investigating , listening and interviewing doctors. I have definately decided on robotic. I was just down at Hopkins last week and met with Dr. Su. Has anyone had the robotic at Hopkins? ( Oh I cannot ( no laughing ) figure out how to get to my original thread, Lee, Buddy any suggestions ) Barrister

Hi Barrister,

Welcome back. There have been several members that have been to John Hopkins, But I can't remember now who they were. All I can say is that the staff of urologists at Hopkins is regarded as world class. When will have you have your procedure?

Hi Barrister,

I had open RP surgery at Johns Hopkins in November 2006. My doctor was Dr. Alan Partin.

Johns Hopkins is a world class operation and we traveled half way across the country to have my surgery there. They have a recovery ward devoted entirely to patients recovering from prostate surgery. The nurses are superb.

Like Ben, I was at Hopkins with Partin. I agree with what Ben said about the after surgery care by the nurses on the 2nd floor of the Weinberg Building. I had the pleasure of seeing Dr. Su via video screen when I was walking the halls of the second floor post-surgery and he was making rounds by way of his robot, which had a TV monitor, two-way speaker, camera and motorized wheels to move around. Dr. Su was able to converse with his patients in their rooms and me in the hallway via the robotic technology, all while he was somewhere else (I guess his office...maybe his home....I really don't know where he was). I'm sure that was a different, but just as rewarding, experience for Su's patients as my in-person visit from Partin during his rounds following my surgery.

SJC: Boy that sounds a bit impersonal. Although I have been communicating with Dr. Su by e-mail and he does responds himself. Since I use e-mail extensively in my office I appreciate this way. Maybe it is just a generational thing. We will have to become more tech savey.( By the way, Lee and Buddy ) I still don't see the dropdown next to the new topic at top of page - no laughing )> Barrister

Hi Parson,

Making the rounds via robot mentioned by SJC a few postings above does sound a bit impersonal. On the other hand, you are looking for a surgeon who is expert and comfortable with robots. Maybe robot rounds are just what you want.

Lee and Buddy: I have found the "sorted by" Now how do I get to a particular person. Where do you put the beginning initial? Ben: I think you are correct and that may be the wave of the future as long as the service doesn't deteriorate with the robot. Welcome to D2U2. Barrister
