PSA 14.1, jumped from 7 four months ago.

Biopsy January, 44 samples found 4 Gleason 3+3=6 and 2 Gleason 3+4=7

Bone and CT Scans negative

Urologist recommended Radiation (IMRT) and Hormone treatment, due to age and other health problems.

Found out about HIFU and made appointment for it at the Klinikum Harlaching in Munich, based on the number of treatment done (1,600)

Going next week

Sorry you had to join the club but we stick together here and support and inform each other. Nice to see another 70 year old for once!

Hi ~ HIFU,   Great new personal Thread!!!!   Thank you for joining us!!!   We truly look forward to walking with you and hope you continue to share your journey with all of us.   This forum is building such strength from all who participate…   A forum where we share in order to help others.   And allowing “all of us” to pull extra strength when we need it most!   Again ~ thank you for the gift of sharing!!!!      Will you share a little more with us…?   Where are you located?   Current health status before diagnosis…    Will you be planning to keep a log of “Your Journey”?   We sure hope so!!!! Thanks Guys

Leaving on Tuesday and checking in on Thursday, and having it done on Friday. Germany's e-mail said " absolutely no pain or discomfort"

I'll keep you posted along the way

I had already contacted Maple Leaf. they use the same equipment Ablatherm as the Munich Clinic, only difference in procedure. Munich does TURP before doing the HIFU

I decided on going to Germany because they have been doing it for many years having done about 1,600 procedures, against about 1 year in Canada.

Also Canada quoted me $25,000 against about half from Europe.

I had a massive heart attack about 40 years ago, while living in Mexico City, and before I was turning 40 my cardiologist told me I was in very bad shape and that the only hope I had in surviving was getting the at the time experimental Bypass Surgery, and had it done by the Argentinian Doctor Favaloro at the Cleveland Clinic, who had started it. I had it done a second time 10 years after that in Houston, and 7 years after that when Houston said they could not do anymore for me I went to Stanford in Palo Alto, Ca. and they did a great job. about a year ago my local cardiologist thought I might need to have a defibrillator implanted, but I don't know if by losing 25 pounds and a non-prescript ion chemical chellation, they decided I did not need it any more and was told I could begin excercising, and I started to go to a gym 4-5 times a week. And suddenly in a routine visit to my urologist who had told me to see him in 4 months because the DRE was negative, he called me up and told me about the rise in PSA and had the Biopsy last month. I feel great, but know I need to take care of this right away, I am not the guy that  can just wait and see what happens, and plan to fight it to the end.  Thanks Ben

Hey there HIFU Ben,

How are you today? How's the PSA? The other thread you posted on (My HIFU Trip) is all confusing, some posts must be missing as it reads strange, and it's "locked" so I couldn't ask any questions.

Getting the TURP sounded like a negative, but then you were doing great in no time at all after the HIFU, and your PSA was 0.05 after 3 months time, but then the thread was locked, thank goodness you provided this link.

If you are still getting notices, then I hope to hear from you.

The HIFU guys come and go on this website. They don't seem to stick around and the site has had problems with HIFU associated scammers who were promoting a certain doctor or clinic. Lots of promises, etc.

You may get a quicker response by just going to the web and searching for HIFU. Anyway, in my case I was never a candidate for HIFU since I have Colitis/IBD and none of the HIFU docs would even touch me.
