Relative to injections I had an injection of Caverjet given by my surgeon's PA on February 2nd. I had a bad reaction to it with penile aching that almost brought tears and an erection that lasted about three hours. I knew going in that Caverjet does have that side effect on some men but it had the best reputation for prevention of Peyronies and priapism. I continued to have penile aching for the next two to three weeks and just now starting to get back to normal. Since then the medication has been changed to Bimix but I have not tried it as of yet. The injection was not bad at all as someone said just like a pinch. With the aching I have not been in the mood for any sex but hopefully within the next couple of weeks I can get back in the groove.

You might want to read Swimom's post again.  I believe she's the only one mentioning nocturnal activity and it was erection, not emission.  Those nocturnal erections are produced during REM sleep, there is relaxation of smooth muscle tissue and that is what keeps things in working order.  This nightly repair work even affects other areas such as the heart.  I found out that sleep apnea prevents you from the restorative qualities of REM sleep during which the heart rejuvenates.  I believe it was the football player Reggie White that died of heart trouble brought on by sleep apnea.  That nightly repair work whether natural or aided by medication to improve blood flow is what will keep every man's two favorite organs working.

Well Allen,

You might reconsider the possibilities :>) Research into The National Journal of Impotence Research, Urology Times, Entrez Pubmed and The Journal of Urology, just to name a few. There are thousands of articles including those which are evidence based on every ED cause and treatment. I find the least on the pump and the most on PDE5 drugs and prostaglandins. It's perfectly okay to have a favorite method of combating side effects of PCa treatment. Being that sildenafil can be purchased for less than a dollar, there is no reason avoid trying them if a man's medical history permits IMHO. Each man will find what works for him...thanks for sharing! Every opinion does matter.

Hey Swim and Boo.  Can you cite one peer reviewed article that supports the theory?  I haven't come across them.  I'm not saying you shouldn't try everything, just that the pills don't work well for many people and they do have unpleasant and possibly serious side effects.  Also, I would liike to know where you are getting them for $1 a pill in the U.S. because the name brands are still patent protected.  Some health insurance plans cover them but not to the extent that many docs prescribe them, e.g., several times per week.

I gave you some sites now it's your turn. We're all about helpiing each other help ourselves on this forum. No one just takes the word of another but we do our research and follow up from the support and suggestions and sources shared. I teach adult learners...now now, you must do your work to pass this class :>) Use what ever method that works for you, really. No one is trying to convince your or anyone else otherwise. REEEEEAD...we support all efforts made by everyone. TriMix is a very successful drug for a lot of men who can't use Caverject or Edex. Several of our men have used it. Paul (DH) used Caverject quite successfully himself.

And, I never said I get sildenafil for a buck in the US.....I just said PDE5's can be bought for a buck! Try alldaychemist.com Many many guys from a couple of forums are using them and no one has grown a third head yet...LOL! Pfizer has spent so much time and money on trying to prevent Viagra from being sold cheaper in China they haven't notice India has been doing it for the last 18 months! By the way...Pfizer hasn't been terribly successful so far its efforts :>)

I am 7 weeks past surgery.  I have my incontenence mostly under control.  I use a thin pad when I am out socially and find that I spurt only when I move too quickly.The rest the time I am fine.I played 9 holes of golf yesterday and only leaked once. And you should see my golf swing. I call it the GLS golf system (Grunt/lunge & stagger)  ( will have a dvd available at 555 555 1234) tongue

I have put off the erection issue until now.  My Doctor prescribed Viagra at 6 weeks.  We have only tried it twice.  First was zero.  We waited a few days and following some of the great tips I found here we did much better. Not a full erection, but a very happy time for both my wife and me. I have ordered a pump (medically approved but not the high priced model) I'll let you know how it works.  My wife asked me...How does it work?(function)  and How does it work? (how well). was that an echo? I don't have the answers yet.

I am still upset at the price of Viagra and the fact my insurance doesn't cover it.  I think it is unfair when it is prescribed to treat post surgery conditions, that the insurers treat us like 2nd class citizens.  oh well...

Hey folks

Does anyone know why I have the long blank open space after my signature?

I tried to correct it, but I guess i haven't found the right thing to do. I go to control panel..etc..etc...but still lots of open page after my signature.

Hello

I am doing some back ground reading after just joining and thought a comment on this subject here might be OK.

We had made some progress on the physical side of our lives before radiation.  We decided to include all options and see what worked now.  Well radiation set me back months.  We found ways to tell the other how much we loved.  Climaxes were present for both but full intercourse was a ways in the future.  I was clean, had soft skin and smelled good but no penetration.  We used all the samples and bought a few more but about a 1 1/2 years goes by with little change.

A birthday pool party for a Grandson gets us all together, 20-30 people.  My daughter in law is of Cuban heritege. She was sisters.  One of those sisters is a knockout and she has a new bikini.  Waterpolo in the pool and I'm sitting in the cabana with ice tea watching that bikini.  My goodness it starts.  It grows, it bulges. it protrudes and felt wonderful but embarrasing.  I mean "HELLO BUDDY, WELCOME BACK.  WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN SO LONG"  I quickly grabbed a towel and went to the bathroom.  It went down just as quick as it came up, darned.

After we drove away hours later, my wife says "Was that what I think it was?" "YES."  "Lets go invite him back, I want to see him again."

During those next months he accepted our invitations once in a while and showed up.  Each appearance was a surprise because we could never quite figure out how to phrase the invitation.

It was also during that time some of the pressure or selfishness began to ease and I lightened up.  I was alive after all.  I decided to thank those who had helped me.

I guess I'm one of the lucky guys without too much in the way of ED (see signature) Partial erections with catheter in, and I get involuntary erections at night, and occasional involuntary sirrings during the day time, and can perform several tiems a week. It has got tonthe luxury stage of being able to perform on demand.

However every silver lining belongs to a thunderstorm in this case ...

I'd rather have been limp and been a member of the zero club, and thus also limp and not to have had a raised PSA and needed RT.

It kinda makes me wonder if the two are connected, ie if the surgeon had removed loads more tissue (including more nerves etc) then he would have removed all the PCa and left me with ED.

You don;t want to just sit back and wait for things to stir down below though. Being in Holland my docs were not shy about telling me to encourage little Alf into life as frequently as possible after surgery: even if it's not adequate for pentration it still gets the blood flowing in the penis to help ensure that oxygen and "nutrients" continue to be delivered to the tissue of the penis to keep it as healthy as possible throughout the recovery period to help things heal etc.

(Lifegaurd you may have to simply delete all your existing signature and then start again.)

Hello again English Alf,

You know it was a big surprise to me when I learned of the big differences in ordeal and outcome that we go through as patients and families. It was not until I did extensive reading at Terry Herbert's site http://www.yananow.net/ that I became aware of the size and complexity of the Prostate Cancer issue. He told me recently that his site received over 12 Millions individual hits last year. That fact helped me realize the size of this issue in the world. He went on to state a few years ago he had 1 then 3 then 6 then 9 and now who knows how many will come in this year. All he knows for sure is that his best friend and business partner died of prostate cancer a while ago and the task of maintaining the site continues to grow and cost more as time rolls along.

I am dealing with the Ed issue but I am a member of the ZERO CLUB. Not only that I have the love of a good women in my life who I would die for.

Hey Ellen thanks for writing. I did not read the other response so I am probably saying the same thing. For me it took more than two years. Granted I was on hormone therapy but I did realize that it takes the body along time to heal from the invasion it was under. I would encourage your husband to take this time to fall in love in new and more rewarding ways. I am sure most couples here would tell you that their love lives have improved due to the difficulty of having normal sexual relations. Allow the romance back in your lives without expectations, go for a walk, hold hands, have romantic dinners, flirt more often (with each other). In no time at all things will start working and your love life will be better than ever. In the meantime slow down and stop expecting your body to be normal so quick.

Life is great when you are livin a dream and we all are living one every day
