Alex Dear Alex ~   This is a very powerful thread and it’s because ~ there is such raw emotions beginning on the very 1 st Thread/1 st posting….from Day 1.   The responses/replies from Day 1 are incredible.   The emotions from you and the emotions of our members….are truly heartfelt…by all of us….      Having traveled or getting ready to travel this path ~ allows us to understand the STRENGTH that the “individual family forum members” have to offer.     Amazing what we’ve all learned on the stepping-stones with prostate cancer.   We have found an inner strength that a lot of us knew was there ~ and a few who didn’t realize they had it!!   They know now .....that they do!!   The reply postings have truly warmed my heart ~ not only because we are lending strength.   We continue to understand ourselves and the path that we followed to be where we are today   ~    as we see others struggle on certain stones that are extremely wobbly.    We continue to grow…   HealingWell   allows “All of Us” to lend Helping Hands to the stones that are wobbly.   Soon the stone becomes calm again and this allows our   ~friends~ to move forward onto the next stone.   It is a path that is best traveled with friends.     Thank you ~ Friend!!!       Keep posting….     And know we care!!! I don't think my saga will continue to attract many responces but I do hope to be an active member of the forum to help in any way I can those who come later. I don hope that anyone new who shows up gets some help from my threads.

I am not sure what is common I think it depends on each indivdual and how they heal etc. I have seen guys here have good contenence from the first day to others that use 5 or 6 pads a day. In my case I used a pad during the day and one during the night of a little more absorbant kind. I did this for 2 or 3 days and have pretty much went to one small ligt pad a day (24 hours). I am now out of surgery a total of 15 weeks and still wear the one small one every day as much for confidence. I don't leak much but just can't quite shut the faucet off and a drip comes every now and then. I would say I was better early in the day and as I got more tired did have more problems starting in the mid afternoon. I would say you seem to be pretty much as normal as can be expected and it will get better each day but don't be surprised if some days are harder again, I still have it work that way. Hang in there and I am waiting for one full year to pass and then see what I feel like overall, I am really good but there are days it just don't work the same and the doctor told me it could take up to a year for things to seem pretty normal every day.

Alex: For me, the dribbling starts toward the evening. The leader of our local USTOO chapter told me it's because the muscles are tired at the end of the day. I'm almost four months out and done with the pads. A few drips here and there are no big deal. I have a feeeling that if we had examined our underwear before we had PCa treatment, we'd have seen evidence of drips too. I remember reading the following message scrawled above a urinal when I was in college: "No matter how much you shake it and dance, The last drop always lands in your pants." Patience, my friend -- Patience!!!

Alex . . sounds to me like you are doing really well incontinence wise. The first week Bob was without catheter he went through a complete package of 52 pads.

I kept track of how long it took to use a package on the calendar. The second package lasted 2 weeks; the third about 4 so we could see progress even when it felt like it was going slow.

Well I'm back to work and I really don't have much to report. The incontenance is still there and some days are good and others not so good. Not much you can do about it but let your body heal and hope things get better. There is the kaegels and walking and I do those. Other than that I'm doing great and hope to be able to help anyone who has to go through this.
