Prostate biopsy on the 18th

Hello all

had prostate biopsy done, and also another procedure going up my penis they did knock me out for about 20 minutes.  Woke up feeling very sore and uncomfortable rest of the day was not good hurting from both sides and bleeding... was having trouble urinating.  At 1 POINT thought I was going to have to go back and be catheterized I kept drinking lots of water and kept struggling until finally passing clumps of blood.... nasty nasty nasty... doing better today.... so now I wait and sweat it out. You have all been very helpful to me before this procedure, and I want to thank you.

Hi ~ Richard,   Take this time to recover from these procedures….   Going in apprehensively usually leaves an impression… so please take time now to heal.    Your test will come back and no matter what the outcome ~ you will have answers and then can continue to move forward in the direction you need to.   Please know we are still right there with you and we feel your fear…. but ~ fear can paralyze you so don’t let it take hold.   We are all here….. and we’ve all been where you are. We are all the same but different We all have journeys we are traveling and walking with all of us…. Hi Richard, glad to hear you have that part behind you. Kurt had the same experience with his biopsy. Luckily, they didn't mention the up the penis part until after he was back in pre-op. I don't think he would have gone through with it if they had told him before. Good Luck to you and we will be here for you when you get the results. hopefully, you will not need us anymore, but you have been a big help to others who are still on the pre pca side. Courtney

Hi Rick: Been there done that too. about four weeks out of surgery I had some unexpected bleeding. I called the City of Hope nurse triage center and they said "It is not normal, but not unusual. Drink lots of water." So I'm drinking water like crazy and peeing what looks like cherry Kool-Aid for a couple of hours -- redder pee than I had ever passed before. So I drank some more water and laid down for a while and then got the feeling that I really had to go, but when I got to the toilet, I felt blocked and unable to pee. Next, was the "LOVELY" experience of blasting out about five huge clots -- some of them missed the bowl and hit the bathroom floor - one was the size of dime! This was immediately followed by clear urine and my urine has been clear ever since (four months now).
That was probably the worst post-op experience I had.
Of course, being the macho man I am, I handled it all very calmly. I ran around the house like a maniac; popped 20 mgs of Valium; got my surgeon on the phone twice; had my wife scared to death, etc.
WHAT A GUY!
Seriously, I think it has something to do with those catheters. Whether they are in for 20 minutes or two weeks, they shouldn't be pulled out until the trauma to the urethra is resolved.
Hang in there, my man. Healing is different for everyone.

I'm glad you got it over with. Great job.
Hopefully, it will come back negative.

Now you can get some rest and relaxe. You've earned it.

My butt feels very sore ever since I had the biopsy, and also a burning and itching feeling especially after a bowl movement..... I was wondering if it would be okay for me to use witch hazel a few times a day. Hopefully take away that itch and irritation

One down!  The biopsy on the tongue showed no cancer.  Now I get serious about the other end and this isn't looking like a tiptoe through the tulips.  (Give yourself a gold star if you get it.)  I was thinking that I would be off work Thursday and Friday, then the weekend and go back to work Monday.  Should I plan on a longer moan and groan period?

I am thrilled the biopsy on your tongue just caused you to love mashed potatoes. Most important it was cancer free.  Now for the next hurdle..........practice staying in the moment to keep your anxiety down.

I want to thank you all for caring.... you are all great.... God gave me a break today, I don't feel quite as uncomfortable... I'm thankful for that.... I still jump when the phone rings making all my roommates crazy.... Richard
