Here are some acronyms from back in the day, all of which I'm sure you've heard.

FORD stood for "Fix Or Repair Daily."  Or, "Found On Road Deserted."

GTO was "Gas, Tires and Oil."

STP was "Switch To Plymouth."

(Any old Falcon wagons still out there?  The first time I ever held hands with a girl was in the back seat of a Falcon wagon at Halloween, around 1963.  Her mom was driving a bunch of us kids through a small town in New Jersey for trick-or-treating.  The Falcon had a standard shift on the column.  I was in gear too -- lol.)

Excellent news! I am sure it is a great relief to you. The leg thing sounds really strange. Did you have an epidural or were you out? Glad it was nothing serious.

My recovery continues to progress well. I think the leakage is right on track. Much better than many and not as good as some. I am very happy with it. Dry in the morning, a little leakage when I do certain things and move in certain ways. It is kind of unpredictable. I am sure drinking a lot of coffee in the morning doesn't help a lot.

I meet with the dr in a couple of weeks for a psa test and results. I have not reason to expect anything but good news.

I doubt if the news will be as good on the sexual functioning area. Due to the severity of the cancer, the doctor was unable to save any of the nerves.
Compared with the other possibilities, I guess that is all right.

Additionally I feel lucky since the prostate had attached to the bowel. It took two surgeons and an extra hour and half of surgery to get it off. They succeeded without perforating the bowel. That is good too.

So all is well- I exercise and work in the yard as much as is appropriate.

Just a quick note--small in a lot of ways, but exciting to us.

As I used to say this to my son when he was little. I wore my big boy pants today for the first time and it worked.--I will probably change back late this evening as I have found I leak more when I am tired.

5 weeks out and beginning to be a little more active--digging holes--planting trees--working on my irrigation system.

Although I am happy for me--I am sorry for those of you for whom things are not going so well.

OFL - Getting back to doing the things that make life seem normal and I bet you're grateful for it all. Sounds like you're have a very good recovery - as it should be.

several weeks after surgery--I no longer use pads--starting to think about the ED issue as I lost all nerves in the surgery.

I have had pain since the surgery--in my side (not at the incision site). I had been assuming that my hernia had been aggravated.
Sometimes it had been very intense. It got really bad this week. Finally in the ER Thursday night. Diagnosed with diverticulitis. I think the pain has been a lot more intense than surgery recovery.
Of course the PC did not cause this in anyway. A colonoscopy before surgery had revealed my risk factor before the surgery.

What it appears is the the "preps" set me up for this (the prep for the biopsy, the prep for the colonoscopy, the prep for surgery). Probably irritated the lining of the intestine (I know the preps irritated me).

I want to reinforce that this WAS NOT related to the PC.

What I have learned however from this process is to not assume I necessarily know what is going on with my body. As a result of my presupposition that it was a hernia, I allowed myself to have the diverticulitis progress for over 6 weeks before treatment. As a result I am much sicker than I could have been.

I expect a full recovery. Right now though it is a pain.
