I thought I would start a post for those of us that have had or still have prostate cancer to share any good thing that as come about because of prostate cancer. I'll start with just a few of my own.

1. I found this forum when I needed help and advise in my darkest hour. I found real people with real true stories that really cared about me. I am now one of those people and I care about other people more than I ever did before.

2. I found out how much my wife and my family and friends loved me.

3. I found a deeper intimacy both physical and mental with my wife than at any other time in our 37 years of marriage.

4. I have a fresh new appreciation for life and each day is a gift.

5. I now really realize I am not going to live here forever and the beliefs and faith taught to me as a youth (which I conveniently had placed on the back burner for many years) are proving to be true on a daily basis.

If you have experienced any blessings or positive experience because of PC please share it.

I have found out there are a lot of people who cares about
your health and will do anything to help out.

Could not agree more with your conclusions.  The outpouring of love, and support from people you would least expect, does move you to tears.  You REALLY do cherish every day, and get together with children, and close friends. I was out at a cancer center, very, very heart breaking how different cancers kill our loved ones.  I am optomistic that this monster will someday be defeated.

I will be celebrating my 37 anniversity this year, and the support of my wife in this struggle brings to mind the vows we made many years ago.  Love is really defined by obstacles.

This board has been OUTSTANDING! I have recommended it to new PC victims.  It makes up a WONDERFUL extended family.

P.S. I've noticed that when you meet your friends now they are quick to hug you, how GREAT  is that!!

Hi to all,

I could not agree more 56Pontiac , broker59, Cedar Chopper, lakeman, and can only add this: as serious as PCa may seemed to have been; coming to this wonderful family of friends has also allowed me to laugh & smile at some of the funny stories as well...Just when I needed it the most. Humor in the face of fear & anxiety is powerful medicine indeed.

Since I post for Don & myself I have to share what we've both learned...here goes:

How weak we can be.
How strong we are.

How pessimestic we can be.
How optmistic we are.

How lonely we can be.
How family & friends are there for us.

How little we knew.
How much we've learned.

That time and the value of it is priceless.

Our best to all who find themselves here.

Plus..I have learned how many men are ignorant to that facts of Prostate Cancer.
So now I have made it my crusade to educate whoever I meet to the facts, so they will not have to go through the journey we all have traveled.

Great responses guys!

For me, I found the following blessings:

- Got to see how my family rallied around to support and care for me, even a couple of self-centered teens (aren't most teens self centered?)

- Felt the affect of many prayers and the support from my church community

- Had time to re-prioritize the things we deal with in daily life, sorting through all the "noise" that distracts us and focus on the thing sthat are important.

- Deepened my love for my spouse, as she showed her love and support of me through the whole surgery and recovery phase.  Made sure I didn't try to do too much, too fast!

- Got to find this Board and the wonderful caring people within.

I'm sure I will say more blessings as time goes by, but I am thankful for all the blessings I have received so far.
