Does anyone have expierence in the two different biopsy's for the prostrate? STPB VS. TRUS confused

Not sure. I tried reading up on the STPB and it seemingly does a better job. But I did not find anything conclusive. I had TRUS and it was effective and accurate enough that I had to take action. I will note however that most here had TRUS and some, like myself, had a different post op pathology than biopsy pathology. I was not able to find anything that stated that STPB would have had any different results.

9/10 PSA 1.2

DRE urologist found an abnormality has scheduled a biopsy this week at Northwestern in Chicago. Eight blocks from my house a new prostrate clinic and cancer center has opened, wen for a cunsult. The doctor agreed after a DRE, I should be biopsied and gave me litature on his STRP proceedure. All the studies suggest that the proceedure is less painful and more comprehensive. Just confused!!

I too am in Chicago. I just had surgery and am 42 yo. Please feel free to contact me if you find yourself having to move forward with treatment. It was a shock to me and I'm hopeful for you with a PSA of 1.2 that your biopsy comes back negative.
