First PSA after surgery

Almost three months to the day since my surgery, I learned that my PSA is <.001.   Love that goose-egg!

Congratulations!!! The geese have spoken: and the word is “ 0 ”!   I certainly know what a relief that is, and it’s cause for celebration. Keep up the good work.   Glen

Congrats!!!!!   Numbers we love to hear!

Sorry we missed you at the Lee/Buddy meeting the 13th, but will try to hook up withyou on one of our visits to my daughter in Kingston...  Been to Bainbridge many times from their as I had some co-workers who lived there.  Will also try to hook up with Biker in Spokane on another family visit. 

Lee & Buddy are absolutely great aren't they...  although on our visit in Kelowna at a winery, they seemed to like to put their noses in wine glasses a lot...  I thought it was unusual activity for a forum moderator...  I would ask bluebird for an explanation of this aberrant behaviour...  :-)

Anyway, KEEP THEM 00000's COMING!

Pasayten, we had a GREAT time with Lee and Buddy. When I saw them, they had BBQ sauce up to their elbows! (For all of you who read this and haven't had the pleasure, they are the nicest, most caring and fun people you'd ever want to meet. Bluebird is just as you'd expect from reading her posts!) Look forward to meeting you and Avis in person -- saw Lee's pictures of both of you! And thanks, Ray,for the support re PSA. Have you had your first? One interesting fact, Dr. Corman said I wouldn't have to have another test for a full year. I mentioned that to the group last night and all of them were quite surprised and urged me to get another one at least in 6 months, if not 3 months. I did question Corman about it, and he said with my Gleason and staging, confirmed by post-surgery path, 12 months was fine. Even so, I'm inclined to follow Lee, Buddy and Biker's advice. Can't hurt.

Good News Puget! Did you know that less than 4% of men who have had surgery resulting in a follow up PSA nadir of <.001 endure recurrences? With your pathology, it is no suprise you've done so well.....congratulations on such a successful outcome :>)

Puget,

My spin on Dr. Corman is that he does seem to minimally schedule events on the lower grade PCa's...  First psa at 3 months instead of 6 weeks, and followups (if undetectable) a year later.   Maybe he is following statisical evidence and does not schedule unneeded tests and streatching them out does make us "worry" less I guess.  He is a very confident and optimistic man. 

Anyway, I will probable go in for another psa at 6 months anyway instead of a year.  After that, year to year.  My first one was in July and <0.01   As swimom mentions, our numbers are GREAT for no re-occurence.

Great news Puget. Keep those zeros coming. I also agree with you about Lee and Buddy. They are really great people and super friends. Dale and I are so happy we can see them every week and honored to share them with everyone else every now and then. And jet guy, our son is flying right seat in a King Air 200 tomorrow to Blacksburg VA and back to the ball game.

Hey ~ Puget,

What a wonderful visit!!  yeah   Yes ~ we really do feel like family!!  A great high-five at the table when you arrived to celebrate the “GOOSE EGG”….  Yippeee!!!!!  And wonderful Hugs all around…  A visit we will always hold close to our hearts.  There are true lifelong friendships ~ made here on HealingWell.

 

Those baby back ribs we had (Biker, Puget, & Lee) sure were good….. (Glen *Spinbiscuit would have liked them too!!)

 

And to respond to Pete about the winery… we definitely enjoyed their taste tests!!!!  By sniffing the aroma and checking out the legs…. (wine talk!!)  hee hee   Another “wonderful friendship” sealed with real HUGS!!! 

 

Once again ~ a heartfelt thank you for battling the 4-5:00 rush hour traffic to spend a little time with the 4 of us!!!!!!!  Keep close and let us know when you visit North Carolina… 

 

We took a few pictures of the ferry heading out of Seattle and had special thoughts of you!!! Also ~ The group picture turned out great!!!  I'll be sending them your way soon.
