Hi shammitt,
While it isn't common, some have developed bleeding several years after radiation treatment. There are also cases of patients having bleeding issues but normally within the first year after surgery. I have heard of laser surgery for removing the prostate, but I don't understand a repeat surgery once the prostate has been removed. Another cause of the presence of blood, unfortunately, is the possibility that the disease has spread to his bladder, or bladder neck. That would also be the cause necessitating the catheter. But your father sounds to be in good health and has done the right things to stay healthy. You may be dealing with a new issue totally unrelated to prostate cancer. I pray for that to be the case. You have probably noticed that most of us post here with certain information that we share about our experience as prostate cancer survivors. PSA, Gleason, Stage, and progression are measuring tools that we make treatment decisions by. If you have that information then some may have a duplicate experience for you to reference. One thing I can do for you is keep your father in my thoughts and prayers. You are more than welcome to post again, and we hope for good news after your dad's surgery.
