Anxiety/Premature Climax treated with antidepresant?

Does any male have the experience as I have of climaxing too soon and can it be treated with an antidepressant such as Zoloft?  As I had my prostate removed several months ago so climax is the issue and not ejaculations.  I have some anxiety issues and am wondering if my premature climaxing (which has always been with me but I did not know - I thought it was common) could be caused by being anxious.  Any inpit would be helpful.  Thanks.

I would like to hear from others regarding this issue.  I have found that since using injections my orgasm has changed a lot.  First of all as you mention, it is not as predictable.  That is it seems to come early or late without warning.  In addition, mine seems to be much less intense. Someone said that was typical and might get better later.  I am about 9 months past surgery.

I wrote about this earlier and I will be discussing it with my urologist next week. I will share what I learn.  Anyone else have ideas about this topic.

I was born about six weeks early and only weighed 3 lbs 9oz. I guess you could say I have been "early" my whole life....heheheh

Really, for me....the time has been about the same as before surgery. The only thing we have not tried has been "A Second round".
Anyone tried multiple times in one session?

Hi Geon,

Seratonin affecting meds tend to delay climax in many individuals, male and female.  It is the primary "sexual side effect" that the package insert speaks of.  Seratonin drugs include Zoloft, Prozac, Paxil, Zoloft, Celexa, and Lexapro.  The first 4 drugs that I listed are the older ones and since we are speaking of using a "negative" side effect for a positive reason (delaying orgasm), the older the drug, the better.  Pharmaceutical developers try to eliminate those side effects in the newer meds (2nd and 3rd generation meds) to decrease the number of side effects.  The other plus to older drugs is that the first 4 (first generation SSRI drugs) are now generic and cheaper.  The side effect doesn't affect everyone, but when it does, it is usually dose related.  The more drug taken, the stronger the side effect.  If the side effect develops in you, your Doc could actually tune your "time to climax" with dosage adjustments.  Hope that this helps with your question.  If you have other factors that you would like to effect with these meds (wt gain, wt loss, anxiety relief, depression, etc.) please let me know and I would be happy to help you select the best med to ask your Doc for.

Taking a mood altering drug seems a harsh way to time an orgasm but, if a person really needs to, and as long as there are no other like medications being taken, 5HTP may be a first good choice. Especially so if anxiety is the suspected cause of premature ejaculation.

Not giving advise. Just suggesting something more natural and less likely to have multiple side effects. Natrol makes a trust worthy brand. 50mg once a day may be all that is needed. It's worth investigating. Good Luck.

Thank you PACrat and Swim for your advice.  I have started taking Zoloft because of some anxiety issues that I became aware of later but had them throughout my lifetime.  Kind of like my pre mature ejaculation  (climax now).  I did not recognize this during my lifetime, but now that I have slowed down I realize my shortcomings.
