I'm into my 9th day now post surgery.  For the most part I feel great except for Mr. Catheter.  Appreciate any input regarding the below.

Urine color alternates between clear and a weak tea color.  I'm drink water consistently throughout the day.  I believe I've noticed the darkening starts after I began to move about. 

Got pain toward the end of the penis.  There is no inflammation so I've attributed it to the catheter and that's just the price one pays when wearing a catheter.  Pain is 1 or 2 on scale of 10, nothing I can't deal with.

In the wee hours of the morning I got the distinct impression that an erection was coming on (little chubby).  Now the idea of an erection, with a catheter in place, with the above associated pain, made me less than enthusiatic.  Is this even possible?

Hi RTR,

I had my catheter in for 45 days. The urine color will change form clear to reddish color from time to time and this is normal. As far as the pain at the end of your penis, try a Triple Antibiotic Ointment. You can get it at any Drug store over the counter. As for getting a little chubby, (erection) with the catheter in, YES you can. I did a few times. Good Luck, and I hope this helps some.

An RN warned me against antibiotic ointments and suggested Vaseline instead - something about a risk of irritation

Sounds like a sign of good things to come, so to speak. My surgery was 10/4 and I believe that it was mentioned in the forum that small signs of blood or blood clots could appear even weeks later. Today I saw two small dark spots come out into the toilet. I think these were small scabs which may continue to appear for awhile. I used to observe the donations of urine for drug testing with the Dept of Corrections and I've seen just about every color of urine that you can imagine including blue and green due to different drugs (or medications) affecting the urine. I'm sure that different foods and drink can do the same.
