I am not sure where this site is based but anyway this posting really affects those in Britain.
The Prostate Cancer Charity Awareness Week is 10th-16th March.
If it is anything like prior years the media will, on the whole, ignore this. Unlike breast cancer awareness weeks.
If you wish to find out more or help out then you can read about this on
http://www.prostate-cancer.org.uk/index.asp
If you wish to promote more awareness of this pretty much ignored cancer then there is a petition at

It is just part of letting the government know that men will not just carry one dying quietly with this cancer because they are not getting early enough diagnosis.
From what I have seen in America you get real awareness days with screening sessions going on. In Britain it is tucked away out of site really. Awareness is a major issue with many still believing old myths. Last week we had a newspaper doctor claiming awareness was a waste of time as only old men get this cancer and they will die with it rather than of it. Ludicrous claims that do not match the reality of men living longer so that even if it were just old men being diagnosed more of them are living long enough to die because of it. There does appear to be a growth of this cancer in younger men in whom it is more aggressive. Their survival chances are harmed simply because some doctors dismiss the possibility of younger men having this cancer and waste precious time before testing for prostate problems, let alone prostate cancer.
