Jump in PSA

I am new here but not new to prostate cancer. My dad was diagnosed 10 years ago and had the seeds implanted at age 65. My concern today is my Uncle who had a quick rise in his PSA. He is 68 and his recent PSA was an 8 up from 18 months ago from a 2.  The urologist recomended a biopsy and did not do any other blood work.  His DRE showed nothing. Finally, after a 3 week wait his biopsy is today.  We are very anxious and nervous for his results.  Three weeks of waiting and reading just about everthing can leave a person confused and scared.

Selmer, My uncles primary doctor did the blood work. I do not know if the DRE was done before or after the blood work. I will try to find out . The primary sent him to a urologist and he ordered the biopsy. He did not do any other tests, just right to the biopsy. His DRE was normal.

I think your doctor may have determined that because your dad had it there was a better action in expediting the biopsy. Regardless it was a positive test and no delays. Welcom to the best site on the internet I could find for patient to patient support. I would extend a welcome for both your uncle and your dad. When you get the information on your uncle, perhaps you can post your dad's info as well. Welcome and stay close. You have our prayers for you and your family.
