Ok, bimix and trimix guys, please offer your input

Doc told me a month ago he was ok with me taking Caverject, bimix or trimix.

I requested 30/1 bimix, which he said he will agree to but suggested that I use a 30/6/20 trimix instead.  Franck's told me the "standard" trimix is 30/1/10 (the PGE being the third number listed).

Doc said the bimix has a higher incidence of priapism and fibrosis than the trimix....but he left the final decision to me.

For those who take trimix, what formula do you use?

For anyone with an opinion, any thoughts on this?

One final comment.  He said if I try the trimix and have issues with it, I could still try the bimix.

I am leaning toward starting with bimix because of what folks here have said about pain from PGE.

Help!!!!!

I don't have any input regarding a comparison of the two but like you I am a little disconcerted by the posts of trouble and pain with Trimix. I have decided to go with the Bimix 30/1 initially and start the dose very low and, depending on the reaction, slowly build up. If I have no great success with the BimixI will switch to Trimix and go through the same procedure.

Hey Danman,

Trimix is all I have used so can't compare them. I have no pain with Trimix since I got the dose right. Docs seem to start to high, at least mine did. .1cc was way too much and after much experimenting I now take about .03 cc. No pain, stays up for about an hour, works great. I also take 50 mg of Viagra and 1000 mg of L-Arginine about 2 -3 hours before the shot.  Like everything else with this disease, it takes lots of patience and each of us is different in our reaction.

Using only a small of Trimix is easier on the pocket book and on my tender part...

Yeah Danman,

Its phentolamine, papave and prostaglandin. I don't know the quantities, its not on the bottle.

I'm in a similar position to you, Gleason 9. But a non nerve-sparing RRP. I'm soon to have a follow-up PSA test, but went to the sex clinic almost two weeks ago, exactly 4 weeks after the operation. Here's a report on what happened:

So my adventure with Bimix has been a good one. Hope it works out as well for you. Of course we're all different, and your experience may not match mine. But there is room for optimism there -- let's know how it goes. And good luck with the PSA test.

I can only comment on BiMix, but it has been successful for me, too much so last time!!!. I encounter no pain or discomfort and the erections are firm. Just my two cents worth.

Wonderful story.

To all, I initially did the Caverject in the Dr's office. Painful with no good results. I told him I wanted the Bimix or Trimix. He wrote the RX for Bimix. He wanted me to start with .5ml. That was too much. Erect for 2 1/2 hrs. A little scary. I am down to .2ml. That works perfectly........ No problems or complaints, except the initial stick.

I began with Caverject Impulse, unable to use due to pain and aching, then switched to Caverject injectable powder reconstitute.  Again unable to tolerate aching and pain.  Switched to Bimix, having great results.  It takes .5ml to do the deed, but worth it for the results.  a 5ml vial prescription give 10 injections for $57.00

My Caverjet experience was not good. It was given in the office and I had a two hour drive home. I was miserable the whole way. I reported back to my urologist's PA my experience and he ordered up Bimix. I have never tried Trimix but I have no aching with Bimix, I use about .30 cc's, erection occurs in about 20 minutes and last about two hours before starting to go down. Takes about an hour and a half to go down. I would not mind trying Trimix but if there was any aching then the quality of the sex would not be good.

Latest update....after some consultation via phone and fax (I am on vacation, returning today), my urologist agreed to the 30/1 bimix.  Franck's processed the order yesterday and sent it to me today, so I should receive it early next week.

Fingers crossed that it works for me without any significant side effects.  I already have mild Peyronie's (since age 33), so I will be looking closely for that symptom, of course.

I think....knock on wood....that I can make sure to avoid priapism by starting with a very low dose.  Of course, from reading posts here, it seems a low dose for some causes a multi-hour erection in others.

Any way, I am very excited and hope things work out ok....if not at first, then after trying a few different dosages to see what works best for me.

Hey Danman,

You are on the right track. We are all different and have to experiment to find the right dose. I think that docs have not had personal experience with these drugs and sometimes don't realize they don't work like an anti-biotic.
