My dad just diagnosed with the prostate cancer and spread to the lymp nodes. Dad is 71 year old gleason score is 4+5=9  T1c-def  doctor recomended starting on  hormon therapy . I need advice on treatments we live in los angeles  if any doctor recemendation . I am new at this trying to educate my self so I can help my dad so I thank everyone from know. God be with you

Hi Kankanik,

Welcome to the best site on the web for patient to patient interaction.  You can help us all help you by adding a signature to your posts. You have given us some good information, by adding it to your signature members can respond better.  Hormone therapy is on protocol for your father.  The question is if radiation or surgery is being considered.  I read a book that has some excellent treatment advice for hormone therapy and cancer like your fathers.  It was written by a Dr. Snuffy Myers called: "Beating Prostate Cancer:Hormonal Therapy and Diet".  I highly recommend that reading.  Knowledge will help immensly.  I have advanced disease and I am doing well.  I am very positive and you should stay positive.  Are you a son or a daughter?

hey welcome to HW, sorry you have to be here under the circumstances however since the situation warrantes glad you found us. PC , gleason 9, and lymph node involvement is something I can all to well relate to. I have to say if at all possible remain hopeful, this is the begining of a journey not the end of the road. Life goes on, and there is plenty of reasons to believe that this is something that can be dealt with. I personally went to the Cancer Treatment Center of America in Zion IL and got superb treatment, however in LA I am sure there are some great hospitals close by. please keep us posted and if you have questions or anything I can help with please email me.

Dale is correct.

LA has some of the best in the world for prostate cancer.  I went to City of Hope.  Awesome center.  UCLA, USC, UCU, Cedars, you have some great choices...If you want my personal feelings about CoH send EM.
